OEM hardware woes. (hexbear.net)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net to c/games@hexbear.net

Not really but my nes controller is dying or dead, idk it drops inputs and is getting unresponsive.

It's really nbd since I have a Hori dpad that works great with any console, but I like emulating on my laptop with the original console's controller. I use the Hori for handheld games and Sega.

I guess I just expect too much from an over 30 years old controller.

time to open it up and see if you can make repairs

Clean the metal contacts and, if the graphite pads are jacked up, they make stuff you can just paint on to make them good as new.

Worst case scenario would be if the domes are torn, in which case you might need to buy some replacements.

Good luck!

Its probably just dirty or corroded inside. Opening it up and cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol will probably fix it.

Not a bad idea.
