Image is of a Hezbollah missile attack on a military camp west of Jenin.

The situation between Hezbollah and Israel is rapidly escalating, with massive bombing campaigns on southern Lebanon by Israel predominantly on civilians (as the tunnels in South Lebanon are mostly unreachable to the Zionists, just like in Gaza), while Hezbollah and its allies respond with missile attacks predominantly on Israeli military facilities. Israel is spreading an evacuation order to the residents of southern Lebanese villages while also bombing their routes of escape and civilian infrastructure, similar to a terror tactic used widely in Gaza.

Northern Israel is currently under military censorship to hide their losses, so we get very little information other than what the Resistance provides and what videos and images get through the censors.

I don't know if Israel will dare a ground incursion soon, but it seems fairly likely in the coming days or weeks.

https://resistancenews.org/2024/09/24/the-exhilaration-of-first-strikes-in-lebanon-israel-repeats-the-mistakes-of-2006/

An article looking back at the last few days by the editor-in-chief of Al-Akhbar, translated by Resistance News. According to wikipedia, Al-Akhbar is a left wing, anti-zionist, leaning pro-syrian Lebanese daily newspaper. They also call it a semi-tabloid without a source, which makes me think that it reports facts that some wikipedia editor doesn’t like. So not to replace analysis with contrarianism, but i don’t feel compelled to verify further. Resistance News is a good source. The mention of Western and comprador nations trying to stir up Syrian and Lebanese groups “in an uprising to demand a ceasefire from the Resistance” is interesting, since I haven’t personally seen anything about that before now on my side of the language barrier. The latter paragraphs underscore one of the lessons of post-Vietnam military thought: the USA (and friends) have developed a theory rich and deeply analytical conception of how best to apply massive terror bombing and mechanized shock and awe against opponents without air defense. They have now taken the existence of complex theory as evidence that this must work, which is a blindness that can be exploited. Unfortunately, this blindness does not change the mass death and destruction the “Western way of war” will bring.

i have an early shift today, so i will be posting the other articles later.

I've spent a lot of time touching grass over the past month, but I'm back at my desk now. I noticed something in the actual Moody's downgrade article that was glaringly left out of Western media coverage:

Furthermore, the backed foreign-currency senior unsecured rating was affirmed at Aaa. The instruments benefit from an irrevocable, on-demand guarantee on principal and interest payments provided by the government of the United States of America (Aaa negative), with the government acting through U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Notes benefit explicitly from "the full faith and credit of the US" and as per prospectus, USAID is obligated to pay within three business days if the guarantee is called upon.

https://ratings.moodys.com/ratings-news/429502

The US, through USAID, has fully guaranteed some amount of what I assume are dollar-denominated debt offerings from Israel, and (at least in theory) is fully and immediately responsible for paying the principal and interest in full on these instruments, should Israel default on them. How many countries do y'all think we do this for? I'm going to guess not many.

Is Lebanon actually using its full military capabilities against Israel? Ik it has been trying to avoid war for economic reasons but Israeli attacks isn't helping the economy either.

In the Danish city of Odense, the mayor is malding that he can't ban ships from legally and peacefully docking in the local harbour:

"Deeply frustrating": Odense mayor wants Russian ships out of the harbor

Russian ships should not be allowed to dock at Odense Harbor and receive services.

This is the message in an email from Odense's mayor, Peter Rahbæk Juel, from the Social Democrats, to the Minister of Transport, Thomas Danielsen, from the Liberal Party.

The call comes in response to reports on how ships with Russian connections are creatively bypassing current sanctions, for example, by transporting natural gas to Russia.

"The ships are being serviced by companies located at the harbor. They’ve done so completely legally - and without Odense Harbor being able to refuse them, which is deeply frustrating," writes the mayor in the email.

Odense Harbor is obligated to accept ships as long as they do not break any laws or sanctions - and officially, they are not, according to the mayor.

It's incredible that the axis of resistance doesn't even attempt mass casualty events like the ones Israel does on a weekly basis.

~~Hezbollah sources say Nasrallah safe following Israeli airstrikes~~

sadness

ArticleHezbollah security sources have informed Press TV that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the resistance movement, is in a secure location and has not been harmed by the recent Israeli airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

This statement follows rumors circulating on social media suggesting that Nasrallah was targeted during the Israeli regime's large aerial assault on the Dahiya neighborhood of southern Beirut on Friday.

Reports also said Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council was safe, with Iran’s Tasnim news agency citing informed sources in Lebanon as saying that no Hezbollah commander was martyred in the Israeli terrorist attacks.

Six buildings were razed to the ground as a result of the Israeli aggression on the southern suburb of Beirut.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry says at least two people have been martyred and 76 others injured in the attack.

The Israeli army radio said that F-35 aircraft carried out the aggression using bunker-buster bombs.

Israeli media reports said the regime had informed the United States of the attack shortly before it was carried out.

Lebanese media said civil defense personnel were working to extinguish the fire that broke out in the area and evacuate the injured.

Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati reacted to the attack, saying the international community must deter the Israeli enemy and stop its tyranny and the war of extermination it is waging against Lebanon.

Mikati said the Israeli attack shows the regime’s lack of interest in international calls for a ceasefire.

Renewed Israeli airstrikes target new parts of southern Beirut suburbs

ArticleIn a series of escalations, Israeli occupation forces have launched renewed attacks on the southern suburb of Beirut. Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported multiple airstrikes targeting residential buildings in the al-Hadath and al-Lailaki areas, causing significant destruction.

At approximately 1 a.m. Israeli occupation warplanes executed a series of raids, specifically targeting residential buildings in al-Laylaki, al-Kafaat, Choueifat, Burj al-Barajneh, and al-Hadath.

This comes after the Israeli occupation military carried out, Friday, several airstrikes that hit residential neighborhoods in the Haret Hreik area in the Southern Suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut.

It is worth noting that the Israeli occupation's spokesperson had made an announcement that further airstrikes would target Beirut's suburbs and has condemned residents to forced displacement. Additionally, the targeted region continues to house thousands of Lebanese people as these attacks have remained unprecedented since 2006 when "Israel" invoked the Dahiye Doctrine.

The occupation forces' statement claimed that Hezbollah was hiding weapons amongst civilian homes, but the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon released a statement denying any such claims. Hezbollah's media office issued a statement noting it "denied the Israeli occupation's false claims about the presence of weapons or weapons stores in the civilian buildings it targeted in the southern suburbs of Beirut at dawn on Saturday."

Moreover, Al Mayadeen's correspondent confirmed that there was no military activity in the areas targeted by the occupation, stressing that all the targets hit by the bombing were civilian and included residential buildings, in addition to the Ghandour factory for food industries.

In parallel, sirens have also sounded in the occupied city of Safad and its surrounding areas.

Iraqi Resistance conducts multiple operations against 'Israel'

ArticleIn a fourth operation against "Israel," the Islamic Resistance in Iraq announces attacking, with drones, a vital target in the occupied Golan Heights.

In the third operation, drones of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq attacked a vital target located in the north of occupied Palestine.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced a second operation against the Israeli occupation, this time against a military target located north of occupied Palestine.

In their first operation, the Resistance announced launching drones toward a vital target in the southern part of the occupied Palestinian territories.

In their statement, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq "confirms its continuation in striking the enemy's strongholds with increasing intensity."

It is important to note that the operations come in defense of Lebanon and Palestine as the Israeli genocidal war continues.

Iraqi Resistance conducts three operations against Israeli occupation yesterday

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced on Friday that it successfully struck a vital Israeli target in occupied Palestine using an advanced Al-Arqab cruise missile, as well as a military target in the occupied Syrian Golan using drones.

This brought the number of operations carried out by the Resistance, on that day, to a total of three. Only a few hours earlier, the Iraqi Resistance drone struck a target in the occupied Syrian Golan.

In a statement, the Iraqi Resistance affirmed that the operation came as part of its continued support of the people of Palestine and Lebanon, as well as "in response to the massacres committed by the aggressive entity against civilians, including children, women, and the elderly."

The Islamic Resistance reiterated its commitment to "striking the enemy's strongholds with increasing intensity."

Do I toss it because he’s gone full crank or kept it to eventually read it because the content is still okay?

Colombian Legislators File Criminal Charges Against Former President Duque - Telesur English

Article

The far-right politician was involved in using Israeli software Pegasus to spy on political opponents and social activists.

On Wednesday, the Commission for Investigation and Prosecution of the House of Representatives decided to criminally charge former Colombian President Ivan Duque for his involvement in irregularities in the use of the Israeli spyware software Pegasus.

“Among these crimes are money laundering, offering, selling or purchasing tools capable of intercepting private communications, embezzlement by diverting official resources, violation of the legal or constitutional regime of disqualifications and incompatibilities, abuse of authority through arbitrary or unjust acts, and conspiracy to commit a crime,” said Senator Ivan Cepeda of the Democratic Pole.

“It is a wide range of crimes that former President Duque allegedly committed, as it appears he had set up an apparatus for spying on and persecuting political opponents,” he added.

Given the impact of these human rights violations on various sectors of society, some of the victims of the espionage during the Duque administration are prepared to form an association to defend their interests.

“We need to know the truth and the consequences of these actions against our lives and against our families because it was aimed at destroying alternative projects, persecuting the opposition at that time, and affecting the lives of many of us. A thorough investigation must be conducted,” said Gloria Flores, a Senator and member of the Foreign Relations Committee.

Through these espionage actions, the Duque administration sought to persecute, terrorize, harass, and limit the freedoms of citizens and progressive social and political groups.

Something similar happened during the government of far-right President Alvaro Uribe between 2002 and 2010. During that period, the Jose Alvear Restrepo Lawyers’ Collective (CAJAR), which is dedicated to human rights defense, suffered the consequences of state espionage, and had to turn to international justice in an attempt to put limits on intelligence policies.

“The espionage didn’t end with the Uribe administration but continued during the Duque administration. We were able to show that they used equipment to profile members of the lawyers’ organization. In Colombia, intelligence services lack civilian and judicial oversight to determine the purpose of intelligence in a democratic country,” explained CAJAR member Soraya Hernandez.

For that reason, and to protect democratic processes in this South American country, progressive groups have introduced a bill to regulate intelligence and counterintelligence activities involving the use of technology.

Pegasus software, created by Israeli company NSO Group Technologies, is capable of wiretapping, spying on emails and text communications through applications such as WhatsApp, and scanning documents contained in the memory of mobile phones.

Separate post for this one, this is allegedly an Israeli plane being shot down by Hezbollah forces.

Very strange video though I can't work out the circumstances where this would occur, it's like it got launched from very near the ground.

The British Airways, Hungarian Wizz and Azerbaijan Airlines have canceled all flights to and from Ben Gurion Airport today amid increased fighting between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Israeli Channel 12 news reports.

(Probably going to be most airlines today)
