Rifle association workers wrote letter warning that inaction against Doug Hamlin will ‘destroy’ NRA’s comeback chances

The board of the National Rifle Association (NRA) is facing pressure to suspend the gun rights group’s chief executive, Douglas Hamlin, following revelations that Hamlin was involved in the sadistic killing of a cat.

The news broke as Donald Trump cancelled a planned appearance with Hamlin next week in Savannah, Georgia, where the Republican nominee for president was meant to give a keynote address to an NRA convention. Organizers said Trump had a scheduling conflict.

An anonymous letter sent by “concerned employees” of the NRA to the board contained a litany of concerns about Hamlin, who was appointed in July following a corruption scandal at the group.

Chief among those concerns was new revelations – published by the Guardian last week – that Hamlin was involved in the gruesome killing of a house cat named BK when he was the president of his fraternity at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1979.

The house cat was captured, its paws were cut off, and was then strung up and set on fire. The killing, which occurred in December 1979, was allegedly prompted by anger that the cat was not using its litterbox.

Fuck it, someone needs to cut this fuckers hands off and shove them up his arse, before necklacing the shitstain on humanity.

Fuck I wish I was American right now, you have all the guns and don’t fucking use them on the right people.

I dont care if that happened yesterday, in 1979, or 1879.

That is mind blowingly, insanely inhuman behavior and I hope with every fiber of my being that this motherfucker gets skinned alive and thrown in a tub of salt and lemon juice.

No matter what side of the gun debate you are on, most can agree the NRA is a fucking joke.

Pro 2nd amendment here, as it is written, for a militia like the national guard. Written at a time when the country was being formed around the idea of not having a standing military.

Pro sensible gun control options.

Anti-NRA as it currently is. It's just a lobbying body and extension of the gun industry. If they dropped that entirely and just were about education and training we'd be fine. As it is, they're just a way to funnel millions of dollars to politicians in our broken system.

Terms like sensible gun control aren’t very helpful though, it’s vague and noncommittal.

Oh, so all that stuff about immigrants killing pets was projection. Remember that one GOP lady who bragged about killing her dog in her book?
