Suspending the student was apparently to protect her from harassment.

Maybe I’m the weird one here, but I thought that was certainly an interesting choice to make when you could have suspended the students who were doing harassment.

So you'll have like... 4 kids left in the classroom. sadness-abysmal

[-] CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

Assuming those 4 kids aren’t doing harassment, yes

Exactly, do this more and maybe we wouldn't be in the shit storm we're in? No let's punish the innocent ones, really?

[-] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

It's almost like... If you let people get away with and even benefit from doing bad things, they'll do bad things. soviet-hmm

[-] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah, it would be better to punish the racist rascals, but the issue is that growing up benefiting from an Apartheid state just means the racist attitudes will get reinforced back into the kids. Actually addressing the racism inherent to a settler colonial society requires a lot more than disciplinary action against little kids.

And no teacher either.

I dont think the goal of the school and curriculum is to have a thoughtful discussion about the topic

You might be onto something

Nazi fucking society. They need to be invaded, and because of mandatory conscription every single adult in the country needs to be tried for their complicity in genocide. Execution for the perpetrators, and re-education for anyone who wasn’t actively opposing it.

These children need to be taken from their Nazi parents and have it really drilled into them that their parents were evil and their crimes should never be repeated.

Truth. Don't know why this is seen as "radical" it is humane.

[-] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 23 points 1 month ago

Uphold Eyup Lovely thought

[-] Dolores@hexbear.net 62 points 1 month ago

gutting. those hateful children had their humanity stolen from them

[-] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 54 points 1 month ago

The children are the victims on both sides of the fence. Palestinian children haven't their innocence and lives stolen, Israeli children having their souls stolen.

Death to Israel.

Fuck Israel but I don’t know about only apartheid state, there’s some shitass countries in the Gulf with dire conditions for a large chunk of their population that primarily consist of ethnic outgroups.

[-] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 40 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

You could definetely argue that some of the gulf states fall into apartheid as well, i choose the title to make fun of the "only democracy in the middle east" bs

[-] thethirdgracchi@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago

Not to like defend the awful practices of Gulf monarchies that literally practice slave labour, but at least in the Gulf once you're a "citizen" (which at this point in places like the UAE is 10% of the population) you're good to go. In Israel, even if you're "Israeli" if you're not Jewish you are vastly discriminated against, can't marry people of other faiths, have to have difference license plates, etc. The Gulf is at least more up front about their apartheid type deal.

[-] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

their population

They don't count trafficed people from the global south that they bring in for slave labor.

Who do you think you are, a normal person with a soul or something?

[-] dkr567@hexbear.net 36 points 1 month ago

It's always wild when people say things like "Israel needs a new government" as I overheard at work when the whole zionist society is fucked and is inhuman as shown.

I was going to post that quote from Milton Sanford Mayer's They Thought They Were Free with the words "my little boy, hardly more than a baby, saying 'Jewish swine'" — but let's be honest, the point where "everything changed completely under your nose" was already many decades ago. Who at this point will have their principles rush down upon them?

Saw something like this when I lived in the US. Town was heavily Jewish and a Muslim girl wrote about Palestine in the school paper. All day people were talking about how she dared to sympathize with terrorists and people would shout, “do you have bombs in your backpack?” As she walked down the halls.

The Black Student Union at my university put out a statement condemning Zionism (amidst other standard USAian things like police brutality) during the height of the George Floyd protests.

All the other liberal orgs, including administration, immediately condemned them and shunned them from student events forcing them to kind of exist as a pariah state.

Liberals deserve Trump.

Congrats on getting out

Didn’t even want to go in the first place. Got dragged there as a kid and went back to Guatemala as soon as I was old enough to attend university here.
