The next year or two is just going to be an orgy of face-eating leopards eating faces.

[-] Kalkaline@leminal.space 69 points 4 days ago

My dad is one of those people who claims he's not a conservative or Republican, maybe he's a libertarian, IDGAF really because he always votes for Republicans. His wife is disabled, and I really worry about her because they are going to need those Medicare dollars.

[-] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 52 points 4 days ago

Shame he elected leopards to eat his and his wife's face.

[-] rayyy@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

No problem. He can just pull a Newt.

That subreddit was one of the few things I miss from the Trump days.

Looking forward to the quality leopardsatamyface posts the next four years

[-] haulyard@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

That community just got revived! Good timing.

[-] frunch@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

I don't think the timing is necessarily coincidence 😅

[-] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 days ago

I am going to laugh after all the water holding Garland did for Republicans, if Trump still goes after him for some reason.

But they're only going to repeal Obamacare, not the ACA, right? Right?

[-] ziggurat@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

This is like the English voting to exit EU... Only when shit hits the fan, the red necks will still continue to say it was a good idea

I hope everyone who voted for him gets to be a part of this.

[-] orclev@lemmy.world 65 points 4 days ago

Good news, statistically a lot of them will. Republicans tend to skew older (and dumber but that's irrelevant in this case), so when he axes Medicare it's going to impact his supporters hardest.

[-] orclev@lemmy.world 31 points 4 days ago

Unfortunately if history is anything to go by they'll still find some way to blame their suffering on anyone but Trump and the Republicans.

[-] st3ph3n@midwest.social 15 points 4 days ago

It’ll be the dEeP sTatE undermining Trump or some shit.

They will just claim that this is Harris' fault.

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 9 points 4 days ago

This is the biggest part of the problem. He will do exactly that and these people will believe him because every other source on the planet is lying and only Donald Trump tells it like it is.

[-] Lets_Eat_Grandma@lemm.ee 65 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

This is the goal. Remove health insurance. Only healthy manual laborers are wanted because those are the ones who can work for their masters. If they aren't working, they don't deserve to live. If they get sick or are unwell, they can't work and thus are of no value. They only live by the grace of the masters after all.

[-] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 28 points 4 days ago

That's why you need to earn a living, because you don't deserve to exist unless you sell your labour.

[-] Lets_Eat_Grandma@lemm.ee 4 points 4 days ago

That's right. It's the natural order of things that the many live in service to the few. They were born superior after all and deserve our service. We should fight and die for them too whenever they wish to use us to acquire more resources. We should worship those that sacrifice for our masters and encourage them with extra resources so they can breed more children to fight for our masters.

Yeah I'm nervous about healthcare for my family and I. I need it, full stop. I'm not workable.

My father has had it for so long he thinks he's invincible and he voted for Trump. He keeps telling me Trump is great for his 401k. The guy hasn't had a 401k in decades. It's ridiculous.

[-] IntheTreetop@lemm.ee 33 points 4 days ago

Yup. I have to take twelve medications daily to keep me from dying. Retail price for all of them would be about $15k a month. Once that goes away, I go away. Now I have to face the idea of sitting down with my wife and planning what she'll do when I die.

No one in this day and age should have to do that. I'm 42...

[-] Zidane@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

Yeah I'm personally fucked without my medications. I also have an extremely serious condition I need looked at but just won't since I'll have no insurance soon.

[-] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

My sincerest condolences on your whole situation. Please try to find any/all right-fighters in your region and don't go it alone. Tough times are ahead.

He keeps telling me Trump is great for his 401k. The guy hasn’t had a 401k in decades.

This is some next level mental gymnastics right here. Please make this make sense. My head hurts.

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 51 points 4 days ago

Once they kill the provision that protects people with pre-existing conditions I'm dropping my health insurance completely. I refuse to pay them through my lost potential income for a "service" that they will just deny as soon as possible. Medical insurance companies can go fuck themselves.

[-] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 35 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

As someone with cancer, dear god I wish that was realistically an option for me.

I'm probably realistically just gonna die soon, even though my medication probably would have let me live relatively comfortably the rest of my life.

Even the generics of my meds are about $5k a month without insurance.

I also won't be able to afford regular blood tests or, you know, being able to see the cancer doctor.

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 26 points 4 days ago

I wish I had something more comforting to say, but all I'm left with is rage towards the people that put you in this situation. So many people have so much more unnecessary anxiety now just so already disgustingly wealthy people can be more disgustingly wealthy.

I wish all the calls for guillotines weren't just empty words. :(

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 10 points 4 days ago

Just make sure you take some Nazis with you.

[-] affiliate@lemmy.world 33 points 4 days ago

surely you mean "millions of people who aren't me"?

[-] Heikki@lemm.ee 13 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I can't wait to see the trumpers argue, "They are repealing Obama care, not the ACA. The ACA is great and works well. I use it personally. Obamacare is such a mess."

[-] BallsandBayonets@lemmings.world 13 points 4 days ago

I'm not at risk of losing health insurance, because you can't lose what you don't have!

I'd laugh, but my teeth hurt.

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 2 points 3 days ago

Exceptionalism has always been the downfall of man.

[-] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 19 points 4 days ago

At this point, I think we can just lump all these headlines into: "Millions at risk following trump victory."

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

It's okay, they'll be able to replace their health insurance with concepts of health insurance.

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago

And most of them voted for him.

[-] AngryRobot@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

My in-laws include retirees who live on social security and Medicare, a woman who has had a job for maybe 3 years in her life, and her adult aom with Cerebral Palsy. The last 2 survive mostly on the son's SSI. None of them will get any help from me or my wife when all of these programs are canceled because they voted for it. Elections have fucking consequences, shitbags.

Plus, they ALL order ahit from Wish and Temu. I can't wait to hear them cry about how everything is wo much more expensive now!

Remember to remind those that voted for this when they are complaining about the outcomes.

[-] Riccosuave@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago

That would require me to speak to them, which is something I refuse to do at this point. I'm only interested in communicating with people IRL who wish to be a part of the socio-cultural resistance.

"I didn't think that voting for Trump would hurt me."

A lot of Trump supporters will lose coverage and I’m OK with that.

Man, I wish we could get a general strike going in january

[-] meyotch@slrpnk.net 6 points 4 days ago

I’m in. Let’s get it going. Labor is basically our only hope now.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Yeah, I’m one of them. And I’m trying to start a family.

[-] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 6 points 3 days ago

Well, don't complain. Trump's billions for billionaires will eventually trickle down to you. Just kneel and hold your hand out. I promise, it will come eventually.

[-] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

Don't be obtuse.

I'm not willing to let the vulnerable be hurt just to get some schadenfreude on Trump supporters.

That is not a fair trade.

[-] skeezix@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Obtuse? Get in the hole. Two months.
