Is it common to open with dick pic and then "hey" because that build order doesn't work on the hetero apps

[-] RiotDoll@hexbear.net 29 points 4 days ago

on grindr it's basically a handshake and the further into transition i got the more i hated the entire app and male hookup culture generally

[-] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 18 points 4 days ago

How do you do, may i inspect your member? Eh, it's to the pointi guess

[-] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago

I have and will continue to bang men, but I couldn't stand grindr. It's just really slimy.

[-] RiotDoll@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

i respect it. the more i felt outside the clubhouse, the more i disassociated genitals from gender, the less i wanted to do with the masculine.

which is something i've never really unpacked, but it makes a pansexual me functionally lesbian

I was joking but yeah you're probably right

It's an aggressive opener for sure, I usually commit to 4pool before dickpic but I usually play off-meta

[-] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago

Ah yes the original broken build

[-] NPa@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago

Dickpic opener is an old meta, it got solved when people figured out the "screenshot-and-send-to-their-wife" tech. It might work against an inexperienced dater, but at that point you're not even gaining Elo.

It does work a lot more often in this context

There's a reason that Grindr predates Tinder, that's all I'm saying

[-] Weedian@hexbear.net 22 points 4 days ago

Over text 'have you seen my gun' sounds like a threat lol

[-] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago

Yea that's a risky text that could be misinterpreted very easily lmao

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

what are they gonna do, report you to the cops over your oddball message to sexual harassment?

[-] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

I was more thinking about how uncomfortable/threatened I'd feel if someone asked me "have you seen my gun" with 0 context.

Maybe I'm not American enough to understand but asking that out of nowhere would definitely put me on edge, especially knowing how some guys act on these dating/hookup apps (and real life tbh)

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

I see your point but then I feel "opened with a dickpic" is critical context here

[-] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

You're right that ~~Yuritopiaposadism~~ the op's response wasn't "out of nowhere" and it goes without saying that no one should be sending unsolicited nudes, but if DickPicGuy doesn't know about DE it could be misinterpreted as ~~Yuritopiaposadism~~ the op threatening him with a gun in response.

It's funny if you know DE, I was just pointing out it could be interpreted as threatening if you lacked that context

For context, op is not mine. Found it on r/DiscoElysium.

You see mysterious strangers in the night. Leaning against unlit doorways, engaged in hushed conversation. A shadowy cabal exchanging looks, whispering in dark alleys and unmarked locales. A radical cell conspiring against the state -- and perhaps even against man and woman. Was that a secret handshake? What’s going on? Who are these secretive people? How will they accomplish their sinister and world-altering goals? And most importantly -- are you one of them? You could be. Maybe you forgot...
