I don't necessarily disagree but wouldn't this post be more suited for c/politics instead of c/worldnews? I mean, there is no article linked and whilst the topic is fresh it is more stating an opinion / sparking a discussion than actual reporting about something that is currently happening.

c/politics is gone now because it was mostly US politics and we already have a c/usa

My bad I saw the ones from hexbear and world (and I don't think world would like to discuss this so hexbear would likely be the c/politics).

Smh it still feels odd to me to see discussion posts in a news community - at least for a specific topic (if it was a general discussion abt the Syrian civil war it wouldn't bother me that much tbh)

But I understand why you shared it here a bit more now on the other hand. ^^

Yeah it's not strictly news, more of an observation regarding the ongoing events. Seemed like the closest community to be relevant.

I expect Syria will be carved up by Israel and Turkey now.

Weird they had all this time over the last week of lighting advance and since toppling the regime (checks clock) 4 hours ago. Wonder what these Islamist fundamentalists might be up to.

Has there been a single statement from them yet?

That's very much a yes. They gave a statement celebrating toppling the government in Syria. Here's the actual statement somebody posted on instagram of all places, I guess mainstream western media was too embarrassed to actually print it in full https://www.instagram.com/ms_katz_surprise/p/DDTWmJNtDYG
