I was out Christmas shopping today and the woman at the till noticed my keffiyeh, came over to me and told me about their watermelon slice soap where the proceeds go to supporting mental health for Gaza's kids.

Of course I'm not normally someone to shill for companies but I thought this was a very nice gesture and very different than most bloodthirsty corporations that unapologetically support the Genocidal Entity.

Honestly I don't know the fine details or exactly what projects/groups it goes to, but if you're out Christmas shopping (last minute like I am) maybe mozy on down to Lush.

Lush uses israeli olive oil in at least some of their products

The lush website refers to the brand, Sindyanna, as an "Israeli and Palestinian" team. That brands website says they're made of Israelis and Israeli Arabs and they use Palestinian land to produce the oil and focus on "coexistence" instead of liberation.

Lushs website also says they use "Palestinian" olive oil sometimes but doesn't give a brand name and it's unclear if they actually mean olive oil produced by Palestinians and then processed and sold by Israelis

Lush pays BELOW market wage for retail workers y'all. They take advantage of their strong branding and their fans hoping to be employees + the strong female and queer retail employee base to undercut salaries

This isn't a Costco or In N' Out type company

I mean if you were going to buy Lush soap anyway then sure, but put your money into PCRF instead if you can.

Well yeah of course, but I was going to buy soap anyway, so everybody in my family gets watermelon soap this year palestine-heart

They’ve also donated to Woman’s Place UK in the past. They apologized for it but nonetheless, you should make sure your money actually ends up with the right people.

Lush has always been the kind of company.

They ran the wildly popular Fight Animal Testing actively for years, they still sell the bags and such, where most of the proceeds go to exactly that - fighting animal testing.

Employees can give products out for free if they think the person can’t afford it

I’m not here to suck the cock of large companies, but they haven’t sold out to the conglomerates, and are popular with a wide range of different types of people.

It’s just a real shame whenever I step in the store I feel the urge to violently throw up as the small of their soaps just make me feel nauseous.

I'm against animal testing too, but I only hope that the alternative isn't just prison convicts and poor people.

As far as I am aware: Lush uses volunteers, not compensated for their time, as well as using human cell cultures with donations from willing and informed participants.
