I'm back online. Life is good. Had no internet for a bit.
2025 Goals
Great to see you back! I was wondering where you went
For goals 2 and 3, I have a book recommendation - How Not to Diet by Dr. Michael Greger. For the last goal, I've found that daily journaling and listening to guided meditations (on a free app called Insight Timer) are the two things that helped the most.
Good luck with your goals and keep us updated on your progress!
Just achieved a handstand pushup a few days into the new year. Now for more reps! Front lever and side flag next! Honestly 2024 was great for me and I'm excited to carry this momentum into 2025. Also want to focus on flexibility and eating healthier. I saw @Moonlake@hexbear.net recommend How Not to Die and wow I blew through it in like two days. Guess I'm a vegan now
I'm so glad to hear you liked it! Thanks for the shout-out
Btw you're in luck since that author of that book has multiple similar books (including "How Not to Diet" and "How Not to Age"), several cookbooks, a website with plenty of info, a youtube channel and a podcast. All of his books and cookbooks are available for free through piracy on Anna's Archive
good job on the handstand pushup that's quite difficult!
This was my last week of couchmaxxing. I wanted to focus on the holiday vibes in December and relax instead of focusing on improvement.
Now it is time to get back on the horse. In January, I would like to resume cooking healthy meals and exercising. Hopefully get back into running if it's not too cold.
Wishing everybody a good start of the year! We can do this
TIL i learned a new word that describes me: couchmaxxing
lol
we can totally do this! What's something healthy you're going to make?
I'm keeping it simple when it comes to food, here are some of my quick go-to recipes:
I think the key to sticking to a healthy plant-based diet is to put nutritional yeast and hot sauce on everything, have a freezer stocked with vegan patties and a pantry stocked with stuff like oats, rice, beans, lentils and chickpea.
oh those sound good! I developed a nightshade intolerance when i caught covid and can't do tomatoes and hot sauce anymore 🥲. I used to ferment my own hot sauce i loved it sooo much i truly miss it. Will have to pick up nutritional yeast i have been putting braggs on everything but i like the yeast haven't had it in a long time.
Been looking for more lentil and chick pea ideas going to try that one soon!
I have done a very good job this week not eating meat and not drinking. I got some daiya plant cheese and some tofurkey slices have been eating vegan the last couple days with no issues.
need to do some exercises and eat more beans!
beans are top tier also way to go
Been consistent on eating spinach salad everyday for the past 5 days or so, also getting in plenty of fiber for my guts and cutting out processed sugars. I still get the urge to eat junk food but gonna abstain instead of weening off of it slowly. This year is gonna be my year I know it
hey nice job that's really hard to do!
Big thanks, I'm still in the temptation phase and resetting my taste buds but I know it's gonna be worth it
A community which focusses on improving yourself. This can be in many different ways - from improving physical health or appearance, to improving mental health, creating better habits, overcoming addictions, etc.
While material circumstances beyond our control do govern much of our daily lives, people do have agency and choices to make, whether that is as "simple" as disciplining yourself to not doomscroll, to as complex as recreating yourself to have many different hobbies and habits.
This is not a place where all we do is talk about improving "productivity" (in a workplace context) and similar terms and harmful lifestyles like "grindset". Self-improvement here is intended to make you a generally better and happier person, as well as a better communist, and any other roles you may have in your life.
