This is so fucking funny lmao, they're doing all the neoliberal budget cuts and anti-poor policies, being a servile dog of the USA, and yet they want regime change.

Labour in their infinite wisdom sent advisors to work with the Harris campaign against Trump. I think he hates Starmer on a personal level at this point, and wants revenge.

i think it was on the east is a podcast, they spoke about lessons learned from assad and how it should be understood he tried to meet the demands of the USA and they still regime changed him.

can't satiate the thirst of capitalist ambitions I'm afraid.

Idk that quote, which one is it?

[-] imogen_underscore@hexbear.net 7 points 5 days ago

“It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal.”

Just goes to show to any naive liberals. No concessions will ever be good enough.

Labour could replace pride month with Hitler month, replace labor day with capital day. And Britons will STILL vote Reform just so they can popular online.

It is easier for leftists to infiltrate fascist parties and wear their mask to trick the masses into voting for us than to actually run alongside so-called “left-wing” parties.

[-] Cimbazarov@hexbear.net 22 points 5 days ago

Basically what happened in Canada too. Trudeau defunded federal programs, capped immigration and gave tax cuts and to no one's surprise, the right still hate him

[-] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 19 points 5 days ago

For the entirety of Obama's presidency, republicans demonized the ACA, a healthcare plan created by Mitt Romney when he was governor. For years, they went on about "repeal and replace." Republicans even embraced the Clinton campaign's birther conspiracy. Obama upheld the Bush Doctrine, deported more people than Bush, and implemented republican economics to deal with the recession.

They still make effigies of the guy years after he's left office.

I've joked about it before, but the left would have an easier time doing entryism to right-wing parties and passing progressive policies while no one is looking.

I think Trump and team/handler don't like the previous state department and CIA assets?

There was contempt for Starmer’s policies and worldview but most interestingly, there was a sense of pity for all the Britons they ran into.

“I’m so sorry for what’s happened to your country,” said one.

“Britain used to be great, we need to make it great again,” added another.

“What has happened to your country?” yet another asked.

And so it went on.

If a yank says this shit to most Brits the reaction they'll get is complete and total contempt. Americans are unpopular with everyone here, dare I say it they're more unpopular than the French, especially anyone that's pro-palestine.

Also within british culture there's a sort of "nobody criticises where I live except me" attitude. I've seen people who regularly say they hate the town they're from suddenly become stauch defenders of it when someone from the next town over dares to say anything bad. They can't inject that shit from americans it has to come through brits or the natural reaction to it most will have is defensive.

[-] whatdoiputhere12@hexbear.net 18 points 5 days ago

i think every brit would agree the country is shit

[-] OhNoMoreLemmy@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 days ago

The closet we get to national pride is just being relieved we're not American.

Bold attitude to have for people who have invaded nearly every country in the world. I'll continue criticising them thanks.

As for yanks criticising brits, bite each other's dicks off

Me, when talking to communists: Stalin made a lot of mistakes and we should avoid them in the future.

Me, when talking to liberals: the only mistake Stalin made was stopping at Berlin.

[-] Lerios@hexbear.net 11 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

really? i constantly see shit unprompted from america thats all "USA NUMBER 1!!!!" "best country on earth 🇺🇸🏈" "philly best city 🙌🙌🙌" "#texan pride" "east coast represent!" and so on, its pretty much a universal stereotype of usamericans. you never see that sort of shit in the UK. is it maybe a generational usamerican thing or it's only in the media or something?

the only exception to this that i've seen is "can't have shit in detroit", which i'm lead to believe is mostly racism.

[-] plinky@hexbear.net 11 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

i meant reaction to criticism from perceived outsider, not overblown patriotism tbh.

the cia has declared that coups in latin and south america are no longer profitable and they must expand to the global north

[-] whatdoiputhere12@hexbear.net 24 points 5 days ago

hot take: just fucking do it

[-] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 24 points 5 days ago

The discipline gets turned up another notch. USA vs the world, you're either in the axis aligned with the USA or you're a target

[-] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 23 points 5 days ago

The Euros are eventually going to get tired of being treated like dogs by Yanks and are going to start looking wistfully in China's direction, right?

...right? agony-wholesome

[-] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 5 days ago

Yes, they will. But the USA has them completely subjugated:

  1. After WW2 destroyed much of European production, the USA integrated themselves into the European economies completely. Europe cannot survive economically with the USA without massive economic upheaval

  2. The USA has the army of the Fourth Reich already occupying all of Europe. NATO is a scam. It is a transnational nuclear military without any democratic accountability. It is controlled entirely by the USA in practice and everyone knows that. And it's entire culture was built by Nazis, because the US staffed it with Third Reich officers up to the highest levels of command. NATO is stationed in nearly every country in Europe, and can be activated by the USA at any time along with USA bases. No need for an invading army when they already occupy a portion of the country complete with all defense modalities, fully operational logistics networks, every form of intelligence, etc. Any European country that gets out of line can be destroyed violently.

  3. The USA through NATO spent decades building neo-nazi militias, training and arming them, setting up clandestine logistics and intelligence networks, and ensuring they are ready when they need them to be. Any belief that this was a thing of the past is shattered when we look at Azov. Any European country looking to break from the bloc is going to be staring down the possibility of neo-nazi gangs activating. We already see far-right political group gaining power as a precursor to this.

In essence, what the Third Reich tried to do by forcing it on every country they invaded, the USA has achieved through diplomacy and has done so completely and thoroughly. Without having to invade anyone, the USA has established a formal, informal, and economic occupation of Europe.

So even if Europeans started to look wistfully to China, it will take years of bloodshed for even the smallest portions of Europe to realign. And it will likely only be possible for those European countries directly bordering Russia and China because they will need significant support to pull it off.

[-] picklemeister@hexbear.net 10 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

that would have a lot more pull if europe didn't benefit so much from the existing world order. the same reasons people give for why the us proletariat won't commit to revolutionary change apply to europe (specifically western/northern europe) with regards to their relationship with the us. nato goading and cia color revolutioning to incite the russian smo has been used by the capital class on both sides of the atlantic to great effect in reaffirming this.

[-] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 8 points 5 days ago

Plus, the US does all of Europe's dirty work in the global south. Oil from the US invasion of Iraq wasn't going to the US, it was going to Europe. Opiates from Afghanistan mostly went to Europe to stock their hospitals.

Europeans don't maintain large militaries because they don't have to. The US does all the adventurism on their behalf.

[-] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 8 points 4 days ago

[-] CommCat@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago
