Oddly enough, if I view subs only, LotR memes is pretty much 90% of what I see. And I ain't complainin.
Me too! Can't complain! And glad to find a fellow lord of memeing in the wild
It’s annoying, but kinda funny. I’m much more patient with fediverse bugs because I know that well-intentioned people are working to fix them, and volunteering their time, money, and effort to do so. This is a stark contrast to commercial sites, where actual fixes take a backseat to bleeding as much money/personal information as possible from their user base.
I think you've nailed it on the head too, I feel exactly the same way.
@magnetosphere @Dozzi92 On the Fediverse, lots of people are giving up their free time to make the places better whereas the centralized social spaces are using their *paid time* to actively make the site worse.
All kinds of things have started straining with just how much load lemmy world is taking on. The less popular instances seem quite alright, and I'm using jerboa too. What's your version?
Can confirm. I was on lemmy.world at first started having issues. Moved to a friend's instance a few weeks back and all those problems went away.
I guess the double post problem hasn’t gone away? Haha
Nope 😂
It’s being ddos’d right now
Another reason I'm glad I moved off it :)
I'm on 0.0.39, I think it updated fairly recently. I clear cache/storage when it decides to act fucky, and sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't. Haven't been able to post from my phone in a bit, which can be annoying when I think of something really funny to say, but it's probably for the best because presumably I'm the only one who thinks it's funny.
You could try moving to a different instance. Something off the 3-10 largest instances should be fine. Your hot feed is populated based on the instances interaction with other instances' interaction iirc

Lemmy, world I had to clear site cookies and login in a couple times, a couple days ago. Seems fine now.
Jerboa is fine now too.
I switched over to connect for the moment as i can't comment or post or upload images on jerboa.
I'm having the same trouble on Jerboa.
Edit: I got better. (Apparently.)
Have you tried logging out and back in?
I did. That allowed me to vote, but nothing else.
I had that too for awhile. Then it cleared up for me randomly after another logout login.
I believe it's at least partly affected by the software version on the server, as well as the version on the phone.
I think this is probably being caused by the larger instances aggressively caching pages to reduce load. That hasn't happened on my personal instance at all.
If that's the case, then the only way to really correct it is to change the caching.
And I don't mean to cast any aspersions on anyone involved in bringing this whole experience about. It is far beyond my minimal technical abilities (using lines in Paint is pretty much it for me) to be building something like this. So the way you talk, I'm on board, and I'm sure there will be some consensus about how to solve the issues, but until then, I'm gonna crack wise, because is that not why the internet was made, for general shit talking and porn?
I cleared my cache and data for Jerboa and it fixed this issue for me.
Hey, you might want to clear your browser cache. Seemed to solve everything for me. Also, Jerboa is going through rapid development right now, so maybe log out of it and back in? That fixed problems with it for me, too.
Yeah, I do it on my phone, clear storage and cache, for Jerboa, to mixed results. Works sometimes, not others. Browser seems to be hit and miss as well. Like I said, just having some fun poking at it.
Totally fair. There are definitely growing pains.
I was struggling with this for a while but found clearing the cache sorted it
Try to use an app. Memmy and wefwef (voyager) is the best for me champ
Wefwef has been amazing for me from day 1. I’m very pleased with it and excited to see it do well.
Have you tried using another instance? lemmy.world is a bit overloaded rn. This is a good resource for finding instances.
I had this problem with Liftoff, I signed out and back in and it's fine now
I’m still waiting for my verification e-mail so I can use Memmy. Currently using kbin to type this.
Pretty much same as mine. I wonder if this will get posted or I need to login first.
