I'm sure I've read this before but I cannot remember the source - would you mind sharing where it's from?

[-] ceenote@lemmy.world 34 points 1 week ago

Every strategy from his generation of Democrat boils down to "let's not do anything."

[-] pantyhosewimp@lemmynsfw.com 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I made the mistake of donating to a candidate once and I’ve gotten never ending spam texts from the Democrat machine ever since and from what I can tell they seem to get a lot more money during things like this where people are outraged at what Republicans are doing.

So it would seem to me that the financial wellbeing of that organization thrives under the current conditions. To actually fix anything is bad for their business.

Don't these people fucking GET it?? Trump's supporters are NOT policy oriented!! They just care that he's in office!!

They "want less government".

[-] deaf_fish@lemm.ee 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

They want what they are told to want

[-] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

This, so much.

[-] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago

The democrats have been saying for over a decade now that the "fever will break". As if suddenly all those voters will realize they've been screwed over by the republicans instead of just digging in harder. Schumer is just the latest schmuck to have the same views. I really hope he gets primaried.

[-] SGforce@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 week ago

Right? Conservatives blame "the left" for the things conservatives do to them. Letting them do it only make's everything worse and worse.

[-] salacious_coaster@infosec.pub 21 points 1 week ago

It's crazy how on-the-nose The Good Place was with the good guy committee. "It's clear what we need to do: give up all our leverage, and give them whatever they want."

[-] courageousstep@lemm.ee 9 points 1 week ago

I just finished rewatching that show the other day. I was surprised at how well it aged. The Elon Musk insults slapped and it made references to a Trump presidency.

[-] Hoimo@ani.social -4 points 1 week ago

The Good Place? Classic 80s sitcom The Good Place (TV Series 2016-2020) made references to the 45th President of the United States, Donald John Trump, January 20, 2017 – January 20, 2021? That's remarkable foresight for a 40 year old tv series.

[-] PugJesus@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

What do you mean even the Dem conservatives are accelerationists now?

I fucking hate this timeline.

[-] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I'm starting to think the dems might actually not be controlled opposition, because controlled opposition would say least try to hide it.

Lord knows the supreme court would recognize party capture and one party control as free speech

“But first, let me do my book tour and rake in some mo’ of that sweet sweet dough”

[-] DickFiasco@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago

Still acting like there's ever going to be a (meaningful) election again.

[-] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

If I were a betting man, it's just Schumer buying time. He knows the party has been cast as paid opposition and just wants a couple more years of straight chilling before he has to run interference for the GOP again.

[-] Arbiter@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

“We’re going to fight them by giving them everything they want, what could go wrong?”

[-] SpicyLizards@reddthat.com 3 points 1 week ago

Oooof, will trumps face be (more) red in 2028!

[-] answersplease77@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

It's a better plan to just wait and not do shit until 2028. That would make the republicans look even stupider!! Then we laugh at them! Hahaha

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -4 points 1 week ago

The voters have cut off the Democrat’s arms and now they’re wondering why they aren’t doing anything?

I’ve wondered why the progressives are bitching when they haven’t done a single meaningful thing in a hundred years.

[-] TheThrillOfTime@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago

The Democrats cut off their own arms when they rigged their own primary 3 elections in a row. They cut off their own arms when Chuck Schumer gave into everything the Republicans wanted without even negotiating. They cut off their own arm when they refused to do anything the progressives wanted.

They are owned by billionaires and the billionaires have decided they will keep the Democrats around so the voters see the imaginary choice.

2016 was an opportunity to change the direction of the country and they decided that business as usual was good enough and the electorate has been paying for it ever since.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -2 points 1 week ago

Biden did so much good during his time in office and the voters decided they liked not being able to buy toilet paper again.

[-] TheThrillOfTime@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

What exactly did he do? Did he not fund a genocide? Did he not force rail workers to not strike? Did he not keep saying the economy is good while homelessness and medical debt continued to get out of control?

Edit: all your down votes demonstrate why the Democrats lost the election. You can't just ignore the voters and expect them to still vote for you.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -2 points 1 week ago
[-] TheThrillOfTime@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago

Just because it's worse now doesn't mean he did a good job

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Do you remember how things were when Biden took over?

[-] SparrowHawk@feddit.it 3 points 1 week ago

The progressive did everything good the democrats did not. Idk even know your definition of "progressives" but the suffraggettes were progressive, the civil rights movement was progressive, black lives matter was progressive. All the democrats did was coopt every single one of those movements and wash them down, and roll the red carpet for fascists like trump. Moderatism is what opens the road to fascism. Quit licking the boot of the milquetoast idiots who should have protected democracy

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -3 points 1 week ago

Did you really just take credit for everything good that’s happened while passing anything bad to the democrats?

[-] SparrowHawk@feddit.it 5 points 1 week ago

First of all, I am not "the progressives", I am not taking credit for anything, quit thinking like "us vs them". Second of all, what you described is what dems are doing right now, saying that anybody who criticized their inaction is the cause for their inaction. I am merely stating that those who changed the world are those that acted radically, not moderately.

This simple fact, it seems, makes your butt burn

Hey I know we could have stood together to defeat this person that keeps beating you, but I'm going to continue not helping you and now I'm going to ridicule you more for not doing more as they now lean into beating your ass.

Make this about anything other than a political party and its fuuucked

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Are you taking about all the people who thought voting third party or not voting was better than voting for Harris?

And are now acting like they're the smartest and most morally correct people to grace this earth?

Yes

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -3 points 1 week ago

It’s the progressive’s time to actually do something but instead they’re standing around slack-jawed wondering why the democrats aren’t saving the day.

[-] forrgott@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

The Democrats cut that shit off and offered it as appeasement. The fuck you on about?

[-] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Incorrect as usual. Way to keep it up.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

Way to rebut any of my points.

[-] Arbiter@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

You haven’t made a point worth discussing.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

Hey there’s no need to call me a progressive.

[-] Arbiter@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

Progress in the wrong direction is still progress.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

So is that the plan?

Help Trump get elected by sitting back and doing nothing and next thing you know it’s a socialist utopia?

[-] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

You're not worth my time. We all know you're a troll.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

I’m worth your time to respond to but not meaningfully?

[-] SparrowHawk@feddit.it 3 points 1 week ago

I hope they're at least paying you for this lmao
