Uhh.. I think that's the goal. We are trying to dominate and colonize the world in plain site. World conquest starting with Greenland, Canada and the control of the Arctic.

He is probably talking about worse "for rich people".

Recessions for rich people is just making less money, maybe moving out of the states, maybe selling some assets.

He probably does, but he also seems not entirely stupid.

In this video, he even calls out high levels of inequality and agitation between wealthy and poor as a reason Empires begin to fail.

It's easy to get distracted by the loud stupid wealthy, but I think Ray Dalio may actually be one of the ones who sees the forests for the trees, even if he's still mostly working to improve his own position and not society in general.

yeah I get annoyed with the knee jerk reaction of X is a rich asshole and its all the same. There are some that recognize that there needs to be some balance.

[-] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Well the problem is balance=no billionaires. I don't think any billionaire would be on board with this so we can safely assume it cannot be an agreement with them really. A billionaire saying "we must listen to the problems of non billionaires" is just trying to put a band-aid on an open wound.

I think there are some billionaires who realize if there are no billionaires and they and some others are merely hundred millionaires that they will actually be doing better. I do think that some folks can become highest leve wealthy and realize wealth beyond a certain point does not improve their life. IE that, once one can afford and maintain the most lavish mansion and yacht and such as one could possibly want, anything more is not helping anyone and if there is a lot of other individuals at this same level then that not helping anyone is not helping society which is ultimately making their lives worse. Honestly I don't get how anyone can get to that level without realizing this,

Yeah, me too buddy. It's almost like that's their explicit goal or, perhaps, project?

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

Like people waking up and actually doing something effective against the billionaire class?

I think he is more afraid of people with torches, pitchforks, and French size reduction devices...

[-] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Yeah it could lead to actual war-war

Ray Dalio's a quack. He's a broken clock that is only right once a day.

[-] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, but since the last time was 2008 maybe this is his next day?

[-] HarkMahlberg@kbin.earth 1 points 2 weeks ago

I don't know if you meant it or it was a typo, but I love the implication that a whole day has passed before he's right again. LOL

[-] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 1 points 2 weeks ago

He could be right about this.

Best case is that this only triggers a selloff of federal debt, which means that Republicans get trapped having to balance the budget.

At worst for him, he's one of the first up against the wall when the revolution hits.
