You can’t even open the doors on Alfa Nero without diesel

Billionaires are so fuckin comically short sighted. What happens if you lose engine power while out at sea?

They die in their gilded cage :)

We should all be so lucky

Also - don't they ever watch movies? They could have at least set up some things to run on solar. You want your yacht to be as green as possible in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

Zombies really dont have the required dexterity to crack hydrocarbons

As far as the skeleton crew is concerned. They are still unpaid, loyal, and bored beyond words. Out of the standard crew of 44, twenty-five members have sued to recover $2.1 million in unpaid wages, and only a team of six is now responsible for the upkeep of the Guryev asset.

$100,000 a month and none of it's going to the employees? shocked-pikachu

It has been burning diesel fuel for 14 years.

Oh, I see the problem. They're burning the wrong thing.

I'm struggling to come up with a reason why the designer wouldn't slap a couple of power hookups to the thing so you could plug it into a marina while docked. Like obviously porky isn't giving that any thought, but the people he's paying to build the yacht had to at some point right?

[-] huf@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago

maybe docking is more expensive than anchoring and popping off for a shitton of gas now and then?

it's really not marina space is far cheaper than diesel. Anyway the rich normally consider being docked in expensive marinas to be part of the status of the boat

Go for a swim with a hand drill.

The ecological effect of sinking this would be offset by the longterm reduction in pollution it creates anyway.

[-] Tankiedesantski@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago

Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior except good and justified.

It's probably a steel hull. The easiest way to sink it would probably be to break some through-hull connections below the waterline. Not much you can do from outside other than perhaps plugging the bilge pump's output.

Or you could wait till a big storm and cut the docklines.

I bet it'd look real nice violently exploding

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

Shame if it were to come under some sudden disrepair.
