The main thrust of the argument seems to be two fold - it‘s not 100% is (almost nothing is) and it costs a lot upfront (so do fossil-fuel plants). Smells like like some serious astroturfing to me

The rest of your argument? The only thing I see missing is transport. It needs to scale to global levels and be free with respect to both carbon and cash

I would recommend reading Kim Stanley Robinson for better ideas than I could ever give - The Ministry for the Future and New York 2140 spring to mind.

This literally means that everyone has an equal right to use it… And you’ve paid for an agency to policy it.

In pools, this means the agency can create a rule for “no dogs”. In this case, the library does not either set or enforce a rule that says kids need to be quiet.

FWIW, I completely agree with your point as you’ve explained it. I also know that complaining to complete strangers won’t change anything. Unless there’s a few librarians on here, in which case, Librarians: WTF?

And all the Megachurch (MAGA-Church?) priests…?

Did Christian say he didn’t want to sell to them? I read that as “didn’t offer enough money”

Yes, he may be a heinous criminal, and a traitor to his country, but why is he doing “duck face” in pretty much every picture he’s not speaking in? In those, he looks like a Howler Monkey.

That implies forethought and planning on behalf of governments at all three levels. And moreover, for them to do it together.

Canada - it’s a like the US, but with a public health system and worse cronyism

Except for all the twats in my neighborhood that drive around town with full beams on permanently.

Occasionally they turn then off when you flash them, but most are just oblivious. Automatics would at least solve that…

The tests help you discover what needs to be written, too. Honestly, I can’t imagine starting to write code unless I have at least a rough concept of what to write.

Maybe I’m being judgemental (I don’t mean to be) but what I am trying to say is that, in my experience, writing tests as you code has usually lead to the best outcomes and often the fastest delivery times.

That’s positively early on trains around Toronto where I live… The schedule is merely a guideline

I graduated as a mechanical engineer, but these days am the lead for a large Android project. Am I an engineer? Yes.

Engineering is about coming up with solutions to problems where the solution is not always obvious, and a lot of software work can fall into this.

If all you are doing as a coder is modifying the UI, or fixing a bug, this is not engineering. If you are designing the systems, you’re an Engineer.
