They get these fully cotton ones that are just coated with some flame removedant bullshit and they inevitably get soaked with water or grease or whatever, which makes the insulation not work, so I'm constantly burning my fucking hands picking shit up

And I've asked about getting nice ones that are like waterproof and impregnated with silicone but they're like "the other cooks get them all dirty it's better to just treat them as disposable" and it's like. What? It'd be better to get the other cooks to stop jamming them into food and get nice ones that won't get fucked in a week

The current model is only cost effective because the cost of these MILLIONS OF LABOR HOURS are artificially depressed by capitalist labor relations and low minimum wages. You think people want to be servants picking up after grown adults who act like children? Fuck no, but they have rent and groceries to pay for, or they'll DIE.
