As someone with bad handwriting, I can say it is a 1.

It sets a precedent of banning maintainers and other contributors from nations in the Global South and nations declared enemies of NATO. This goes against open source philosophy, and this will lead to China and other nations needing to develop their own sovereign forks or kernels from scratch.

It's similar to the US working to ban RISC-V to stop China from using an open source instruction set to become more technologically sovereign. Restricting open source software from NATO's enemies is essentially NATO shooting themselves in the foot in the long term. NATO is sanctioning an enemy, so the enemy is incentivized to build alternatives to tech they lost (which can be forked easily), and then the alternatives become popular and challenge NATO's tech, which is not competing where over 30% of manufacturing industry exists, which leads to NATO's tech and industry crumbling as it cannot dominate the market like it was able to before and further accelerates the Empire's decline.

This is a good comment on this thread that explains the long term consequences more comprehensively than what I did: https://hexbear.net/comment/5541448

If the Russian and/or Chinese kernel maintainers decide to work on a sovereign kernel project, I'm definitely cloning their repo and will hopefully help with the project as long as the US Empire doesn't stop me. Because the US keeps ruining my career and technical libre hobbies, I hope to move to China at this point.

Can game devs for fucking once stop selling their franchises to shitty corporate companies (yes I know it's inevitable under capitalism)? Ffs, this was one of my favorite games of all-time. I would have been happy if it wasn't touched. If there was one feature from Steam I would ever want, it would be the ability to revert back to old game versions (or install multiple) without developers needing to create multiple betas. I want my masterpiece back. Guess I need to pirate now. Hopefully I can still play multiplayer with a pirated dedicated server.

I only paid for the soundtrack on Bandcamp and was excited for the release. The only good out of this update is the soundtrack. Chris Christodoulou makes awesome music.

It looks like civilization 5.5 if we were to put it on a scale of civ v's realistic and civ vi's cartoonish visual style, with a bit a polish overall to make the graphics prettier. I think I like it.

Also, yeah, why is this a gameplay reveal. It's also halfway on a scale of a theatrical trailer and a gameplay trailer.

I guess the gameplay showcase is live right now: https://iv.ggtyler.dev/watch?v=Tc3_EO6Bj2M

It looks like we can mix and match leaders and civilizations now, nice!

It looks like they took a lot of ideas from Humankind.

I wonder if the pre-purchase bonuses are exclusive to preordering only or if we could still purchase them later when the game goes on sale. I hate preorder exclusive content.

As an AuDHD person, the college dropout story is relatable to me, except for the YouTube career success. I grew up in a madhouse during my traumatic childhood, and going to college free from my backwards, overprotective, overly strict parents was essentially like falling off a cliff. I was already burnt out during my last year of high school, and I was too excited with the freedom and ended up wasting time playing video games and skipping classes regularly because I had little energy to function as an adult. I still struggle with burnout to this day due to being an overworked IT contractor for years.
