Yes, but the what in the goddamn fuck is spread through so many scientific fields.

Who: biology What: chemistry When: physics Where: geology, archeology Why? Philosophy

All these fields just because the universe exists. kind of beautiful if you ask me.

I don't understand how people can be so ignorant. It's not just about Iran's losses, if the other side is degraded just as much, that's a victory for Iran. Israel's iron dome was degraded enough that at the end they only had 65% effectiveness. This allowed Iranian missiles to strike hospitals, their cheap drones were able to penetrate. In fact, it was Iran who launched the last volley to which Israel initially said they would retaliate but then backed off. Israel isn't even reporting casualty rates anymore because the numbers are too high. Do you really think those strikes happened because Iran was using expensive hypersonic missiles that they were never known to have had?

Everyone knows on paper Iran's military is older and weaker. And still they fought their way into a ceasefire in which they got to have the last volley.

That's a misunderstanding of the causes. Now, admittedly there's a debate on this so what I will say is an opinion, but one that shows how the tariffs did cause the great depression.

The problem people have in understanding the great depression is the initial shock isn't the cause so much as the trigger to the cause which is the tariffs.

Had the tariffs not come into play, the stock sell off and subsequent deflation could have been resolved with simple monetary easing, which is what we do today. This would have simply been a recession and we would move on. However, the tariffs following the stock sell off is why it's the great depression and not just a simple recession.

In fairness, monetary easing policy didn't really come into play until after Brenton wood agreement. That said, it would have been the right solution during the onset of the great depression.

So you can't actually say that tariffs didn't cause the great depression as again had it not been for tariffs we would have pulled through.

The translation isn't right, but I'm way too lazy to try to translate it all. Basically the whole thing boils down to why do I work at all, I should be selfish. To be honest, this doesn't seem convincing at all. Like what spy working for another country would flip because they decided they are selfish? Oh wait, American ones.

https://historica.fandom.com/wiki/Barry_Seal

Sorry America, the rest of the world isn't as full of selfish assholes like you are.

*Edit. I just realized something. If this is all they have to convince Chinese people to flip, they're really scratching the bottom of the barrel. Back in the day, against the soviets it was propaganda about a better life for their families and children. Now it's why won't the Chinese government give me millions.

It's worse than that. Sure China is huge, but the entire world is boycotting US goods. It's far far worse than what your pointing out. But we'll, maybe this is a good thing. Fuck USA.

I don't know why this isn't talked about more, but the reason for the disconnect is that USA has become a petrostate. As a petrostate, the rich get wildly rich and makes the economy look good, while the citizens are fed a bunch of religion to keep them from protesting.

It's not a bubble, it's much much worse. You only hear of it in whispers among the financial world. It's stagflation. Japan seen this story before, they call it their lost decade that has been going on for nearly half a century. It's when you deficit spend like crazy to prop up the economy and that leads to high inflation and stubbornly high costs (IE: Housing). It's coupled with basically no wage growth and high underemployment. Does any of this sound familiar? It buried Japan, it might bury USA.

What are you talking about? That's already old news, they've been saying it for more than 5 years now.

Because while there are only obtuse and vague accusations that China is backdooring technology, there's no proof besides a Chinese law that says Chinese tech companies have to help authorities.

The US on the other hand was caught red handed doing what they accuse China of with the Prism system. It was caught spying on Angela Merkle. And just ask Snowdon how he feels about living in exile in Russia for exposing that.

Well, look at the results. Only 40% voted for the DPP. 60% voted against the DPP. It's just the 2 more pro-China parties got their vote split. Not so in their congress which is now mostly KMT.

So if we take the popular vote, Taiwan voted for status quo, not Independence. China's noticed that and that's why they're not doing another blockade.

But that goes against your narrative so I'll bet you downvote me and ignore the actual votes that do not support your argument.

In HK: the police calmed the protests with no deaths attributed to the police, only the protestors such as the girl's suicide and the man they lit on fire.

In USA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiU8sL7Yq9Q

But yeah, China bad

[-] Joncash2@lemmy.ml 25 points 2 years ago

China already essentially made that offer, but it was rejected by the Indian side.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-64870707

Although, the Indian claim the offer was never made.

So hopefully, fingers crossed, this finally gets agreed upon as it's clearly the best solution.
