As a grouchy old sci-fi nerd, can anyone explain why they think transhumanism is bad? Some Googling just leads to people claiming that it's 'anthropocentric' - as if you can't improve your body AND also care for nature at the same time.
No, but it's absolutely burning through huge amounts of power and water to churn out garbage. Can't bike to the store if it's 130 degrees due to unrestrained climate change.
Less, 'we're using AI wrong', more, 'is AI even worth it?'.
As always...mass transit is better than personal EVs.
Nah, the government. Trying to de-radicalize people with ingrained beliefs is hard and unlikely. Accept the parent's wierd beliefs, let the kids go to school wearing whatever the parents want, and you get much less radical kids out the other end.
Yah, every graph of % of religious people is trending solidly down.
I like the general idea, but I think 'gotcha' deities aren't great. You always end up having to answer the questions, "Why has nobody figured this out yet? What's going to happen when this is revealed?" It can be a huge amount of work to answer those questions.
I much more like the Truthsayer and the Prince of Blades - they simply are, and the worship or lack thereof is just humans' reaction to them. They feel much more...elemental.
Well that's a D&D encounter.
No war but class war.
You do not need a high IQ to experience gender dysphoria. There are huge piles of evidence showing that children that young can, in fact, have a gender identity. Actually, significantly younger than 8. You are woefully ignorant of the fundamentals of the topic being discussed.
Thead's about lawns, not gardens. Different things.
A unilateral secession is illegal. If the others state agree to let you go, you can. Exactly the same as joining: the current states have to vote on whether to let you in. It makes a lot of sense. States joining or leaving on a whim creates major instability for the nation government. Having a fairly high bar for it is a good idea.
I'll try that as my defense at my murder trial. "But your honor, at least I didn't poison an entire town!"
OP is listing all those things together because they're all unconscionable actions that should never be done. It is in fact okay to condemn them all equally.
Nah. It just lets slimy gits claim they never said XYZ, or that such and such a thing never happened. With as volatile a storage media as internet media, hard backups are absolutely necessary. Put it this way; would you have the same complaimt about a newspaper? A TV show? Post your opinion piece to a newspaper and it's fixed in ink forever. Yet somehow you complain when that same opinion piece is on a website? Get outta here.
