Eh.. no? Most free press is privately owned. Just not by billionaires who influence the content.

F1 stuff is always so crazy.

In 2018, Vijay Mallya, accused of fraud and defaulting on loans, could not afford to continue to run Force India, and sold it to Lawrence Stroll.

Therefore Williams lost the Stroll money and had to turn to Rokit as a new title sponsor. Rokit already had a shady reputation among fans because they had such a Rich Energy energy of "nobody buys their stuff, are they able to afford this?"

And then Rokit bailed, not paying any money in 2020. Which led to Claire selling the team because, as she says, there was no money left.

I mean, whether this cartoon makes sense heavily depends on where you're at. In parts of Europe people choose to sleep on the streets even though they would get free sleeping places in social projects. (And they have their own reasons for that, and it's fine. But still: they have that option here, it's not like they are forced to sleep on the street).

If Bearman steps in, this will give him the opportunity to pull away from Magnussen in the championship standings lol (They're currently tied at 6pts)

[Josh Sutill] Ollie Bearman and Theo Pourchaire are both F4 champions, almost won F3 title as rookies and both won in rookie F2 year as 17 y/o. One is (rightly) destined for F1, the other is shunned by F1 + deemed not good enough to have his IndyCar contract respected despite performing well?

The FIA has added a clause to the Sporting Code, lowering the F1 superlicence age to 17 in individual cases. Special dispensation may be granted if they have "consistently demonstrated outstanding ability and maturity in single-seater formula car competition." A normal drivers license is not required anymore. Paving the way for Antonelli to make his debut before he turns 18 should the opportunity arise.

Hey @rmayayo@lemmy.world , I suspect you're already planning to work on the new stuff added in Lemmy 0.19.04 soon.

Should we expect support for the new features in the near future or will it rather take a while? Just asking so we know what to expect :)

[@lawrobarretto] Jack Doohan has a strong shot at replacing Esteban Ocon at Alpine next year. Valtteri Bottas is very much in the mix, too. Alpine are keen on Carlos Sainz, but it seems the Spaniard is leaning towards Williams or Sauber/Audi. Mick Schumacher an outside bet

With a couple I know, they had the class photo of one of their sons at the fridge one year. Seemed weird to me too, so I asked. Turns out the son had wanted to hang it because he had always had trouble with fitting in in previous schools, and this was the first time he really was friends with those kids and invited them over as well.

That seemed like a good reason to me personally.

What? There definitely should be more midfield teams.

The only reason why the Caterham, HRT and Marussia teams failed in the last decade was because there was no cost cap.

The coffee one is actually a legitimate thing that happened where a store served a boiling coffee that was way too hot and the customer suffered burns, so of course she sued.
