ngl, I love hearing the rest of the world, it gives perspective into what we're doing well, what we're doing poorly, and what's downright fucked up

I can talk out my ass, but can't see through my ass. Common misconception.

Wow, that random news article I hit 16 days ago where the page kept flickering and reloading, but didn't do that when I copied the URL into Brave... I really should've recorded that domain so I could defend myself against some stranger online!

Sarcasm aside, I don't think it's generally the major websites that you bump into this with, however, there are many edge cases that occur for plenty of folks, whether they're in college and have to use that "secure browser" extension that only supports Chrome, or the fact that some websites, especially in business, that simply refuse to support browser and will prevent access otherwise.

I'm a Firefox user, so this isn't to say that Chromium is the way by any means, but hopefully to shine a little light on the fact that we're all on different parts of the web with different experiences, questioning their experiences so that you can hopefully find an extension or something to pin the blame them does not absolve them of their experience, just a show of elitism.

Firefox HAS gotten much better, but unfortunately, Capitalism's gonna Capitalism

Yeah that's the one, I'm right there with you, I probably put in several hundred hours as a kid, but never bothered to read past the tutorial, so I never made it far in the story. I have to imagine there are some good mods to help folks like us

It was a birthday gift from my wife, and lets not alienate people who don't know computer hardware very well and pick up something from Best Buy. I agree that Nvidia sucks, and many of the issues are indeed their fault, but we also can't neglect the fact that they own the vast majority of the market.

While you're correct, many of these generators are retaining the source image and only generating masked sections, so the person in the image is still themselves with effectively photoshopped nudity, which would still qualify as child pornography. That is an interesting point that you make though

Right?! Why does he look exactly like the kind of guy that would moderate r/Jailbait?

I was going 45 mph on a main road, when an 18 year old trying to show off for his girlfriend, blew threw a stop sign on a residential road and t-boned me going 80 mph. I was one of the luckier victims, with emergency surgery, fractures and breaks everywhere, loss of use of two fingers, and nerve damage in all of my limbs.

The driver's girlfriend did not survive, and my coworker, who was in the car with me, had every rib shatter and his spine broken. 3 years later, he's still on oxy (he had to get special approval and prove that it wasn't addiction).

I don't remember the crash itself, but I remember a fire and waking up to my coworker covered in blood, screaming and delirious. I remember falling in and out of conciousness while I was moved from room to room to get emergency care for the next 3 days. Most of all, I remember the relief at hearing my coworker's voice after 4 days, now knowing that he was still alive.

I do think there are waves of people moving from Reddit to Lemmy for one reason or another, each of them infuriated with Reddit and needing to express it. We had the wave of people that reacted to the news of the API changes, people that moved over after Reddit responded poorly to the protests, people that moved here after their Reddit app of choice stopped working, people after the latest set of third party apps stopped working, people after Reddit removed gold, people after the app icon was changed...

People are at different stages of dealing with Reddit, some of us who left sooner have moved on, some people are moving here currently outraged with Reddit, and some are in between.
I imagine we'll keep seeing these waves of people for a while, and that's ok, the best thing we can do is validate their feelings toward Reddit, welcome them, and keep the memes rolling.
