The only problem right now is content. We still have a small userbase. Discussions have been good, tho, and time will bring more people.

Nah, I'm good

People on Twitter are already trying it because Twitter has been shit.

Someone in my circle created their account and already deleted it. Their explanation was a FAQ screenshot for Threads saying that it doesn't matter who you follow or who follows you, the algorithm will show or hide things from you based on what they think you will enjoy and there's no way around it and you also can't sort by new.

I mean, are companies really paying attention to user needs? Lol

I saw "Blackberry" yesterday and it was a really good experience putting you in the context of those times.

There is one scene where they type a message and wait for it to show up on another device. After a few seconds, it is there and every engineer in the room celebrates.

Then, management/sales guy comes in and they tell about what they've just done. He goes yeah, nice, but we do it already, it's called SMS.

The engineers then say that he is not getting the point. It was a message sent through the network using data, 0 dollars and all and salesman's eye get brighter.

So yes, I think the sensation was alike.

Hey Lemmings

I think maybe I'm just a bit anxious right now.

But I don't know what to expect.

I already go to a psychologist once a week, since my early teens (although I had some time off until now).

Should I expect the same dynamics?

I know why I'm going and all, I know what I wanna "treat", but I'm still in doubt about if what I want to treat is the treatment I need, and it would be more of a consequence of some deeper stuff.

Don't know if I made myself clear, but there it is.

Has anyone been to one before? What should I expect? How it went for you?

Edit: so, I did it and it was VERY NICE. He was very welcoming and made me feel very secure. He ended up prescribing two medications for me, to which I expressed some concerns, but he made me feel comfortable and trust him about it. When he was talking and said something about "having a normal life again" I almost cried lol.

I love that Liftoff allows me to see an entire instance and its posts on different communities, but I'm having issues with the lemmy.eco.br instance, specifically. I'm subscribed to a community in it and I can see it just fine, but if I click the instance I receive the following:

The same error appears when I click my communities button right now (I believe it started after updating the app).

Also, going on settings > account > add instance, I receive "instance not found".

Edit: it is working after updating

Liftoff has been great for me.

Replies to my posts/comments don't appear to be anywhere in the app.

Am I dumb and unable to find it or we really don't have any?

[-] RomanRoy@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

That's great to see. They are expecting a huge influx of users and are working towards having things prepared.

I anticipate a lot of client apps will be ready by then as well, in order to promote themselves and Lemmy/kbin.

Can anyone recommend a good one?

I'd like one that can kinda "save" my progress not only locally. Maybe an app account or something that integrates with a cloud service?

I had an ancient one very early in my smartphone days, but as I lost/had my phone stolen I would lose all my progress and miss the pages of the books I was reading.

2k to stop, 1.1k to keep protesting

Let them be responsible for keeping it running. We have a good community here.

Is there anything like that? Most of these banners are invasive and I generally decline all by default, besides necessary ones.

I have "I don't care about cookies" extension on desktop, although it doesn't really fix it most of the times. Also, some sites keep showing them if I navigate through it or refresh the page.

But for Android I couldn't manage to find any extension for it.

Is anyone aware of any?

I mean, the sub was closed and Reddit forced it to reopen, so there is an argument they do endorse piracy

Not willing to give them ideas so fast.

That's something that popped in my head as soon as I started in here, not so long ago.

But there's nothing to prevent that, right? I mean, Meta could very well create a meta instance on Lemmy or Kbin or Mastodon or in all of them, bring a bunch of users, sprinkle in some ads because why not.

Sure, they could be defederated from more restrictive insfances. In the bigger picture, every other instance could boycott them, but they would surely federate among themselves (Elon meets Mark, ugh). They also have all the computational power and would have no problem being the largest instances in the Fediverse.

Then what? Is that feasible? Probable? My utopian future about a free, descentralized Fediverse is a lie?

On Android: App settings > Jerboa > Set as default > Supported web addresses > check whatever you like

I checked my instance's only, so whenever I click some link to a community in Jerboa it I will go directly to the community, instead of it opening in the browser.

Don't think it will work very well with other instances, right now tho. At least not until link redirection is launched.

Ignore 'smaller userbase' if you prefer it that way. We're talking about it as a platform, in its UI, functionalities, etc.

I go first: You can post images in the text body with a simple Ctrl+V. No need to upload it somewhere or even save to your device.

So, in your opinion, in what Lemmy is better than Reddit already?
