The only examples I've seen of this are people saying it's antisocial and counterproductive behavior to crab dance this pope's death. It definitely is antisocial, it's only something a small group would enjoy and most would be very alienated by it.

This is just a fact of what it is. For some it makes sense to embrace the antisocial, often creating and preferring a new in-group. Unfortunately this tends to mean cloistering oneself and failing to actually build anything, and adopting habits that prevent it.

This forum's name was originally from a podcast by not-particularly-funny white guys in New York. They have not actually built anything. They are not of an organization. They don't mobilize anyone to do anything. They make snarky jokes poking fun at the liberal political establishment and electoral politics and are increasingly irrelevant. That is the inevitable trajectory of seeking conflict and infighting and being eagerly disrespectful to your comrades.

The bike in that image appears to be a manual bike, like your peddling supplies all the input for movement. The cargo bikes you are mentioning are all e-bikes, they are all custom designed for a relatively small number of orders, are overengineered/overbuilt to handle the extra weight of an e-bike, have hydraulic brakes because it is so heavy, and have a battery and motor. That's what the Urban Arrows are, for example.

You can get a used cargo bike (not electric) for around $500-750 in the US.

Thia is still somewhat expensive but part of that is the overall bicycle industry being based on new expensive components.

Even a social club and reading group would be something, as it is an organization that can griw, adopt positions, hold lines, and mobilize when events call you to action. It can also act as a group that eventually splits to form a party (or if you are very effective, becomes a party).

So you can start just that small: regular social events (picnics, meeting at a beer hall, etc) and regular reading group sessions. It can start with just a handful of people and grow from there. This will also organically teach everyone involved some organizing skills if you rotate responsibilities like booking venues, leading discussions, handling disagreements and conflicts, evaluating and explaining political materials.

The nice thing about starting there is that you don't need to call yourself the vanguard party if that feels LARPy. You don't have to take yourselves too seriously, it is literally a social club and reading group. But you may find that you can and want to build something more active and serious with a subset of comrades from such an organization.

Not even a complete pause.

There are still large tariffs on China.

The admin still added 10% to basically everyone.

De minimis is still scheduled to end on May 2 and result in large customs fees for direct-to-consumer purchases from China. Many sellers on Amazon are shipping from China (the ones that take 2-3 weeks to arrive).

The media has been particularly incompetent in describing the real state of the tariffs. They keep adopting Trump's inaccurate language.

It's very common for avoiding de minimis and/or having a lower tariff fee. Some countries have de minimis of around $50 so the seller will list the vakue as $30 for a $150 item, foe example.

Do a gun safety training with the most competent and least right wing group you can. A good course should require several hours (6-8) of training including theory, practice with fake guns, practice with unloaded real guns, and instruction and practice with real guns and rounds. This is approximately the minimum standard for the NRA so think about what this implies about the places trying to run two hour one-and-done places.

Gun safety training is a good baseline because you do not actually need to own a gun to do it but you will be prepared if you later encounter a firearm or find yourself wanting to buy one soon.

If you do buy a gun, train with it regularly at a range.

It's not as accurate as mass spec but generally speaking you can test for geavy metals using certain acid and color changing indicators (in known concentrations) over a range of sample dilutions. Even better if you have a reference sample of a known concentration of the target, like manganese. Sometimes the chemical is not itself an acid but nevertheless reacts with the target.

For example, high concentrations of manganese will react with peeiodate to make a red/broan color. You can buy a set of 100 pouches of periodate for manganese testing on Amazon for $50.
