I guess I don't need to sleep if its a weekend sleepless

It is, actually. The wiki at obsrv.org has instructions on how to set things up on a real PS2 and in fact recommends it as the most stable option. Not sure if there would be load time shenanigans between a PS2's DVD read speed and emulators running on all sorts of different devices.

It looks like you can also play on a PS3! Neat.

Note that you will need a way to run the patched Japanese isos at the very least, unless you have the original Japanese discs on hand and the region locking isn't an issue.

Remember that you don't need to hard mod your PS2 in this day and age with things like FreeMCBoot.

One of my friends bought the PC port of Gears 1 just to unlock one of the Chrome starter weapon skins to complete the set. Can't remember where the other ones came from. And yes, Gears 3 was insanely fun. I somehow had some ludicrous TDM K/D ratio, like 4 or something. Ahh, so much hatemail and accusations of having a modded controller wholesome

They should include "Gears of War" in the list of Spanish-speaking countries on Wikipedia, it's amazing how popular the franchise is in South America. More than half the people I see in multiplayer are from there

I'm not sure what's wrong with my brain but I've always just liked Gears multiplayer more than any other multiplayer I've played and keep returning to it. I wish Gears 5 was more like Gears 3 though, I loved the maps and weapons in that game. 5's loadout system is mostly completely vestigial since they took out the three starting rifles and the sawed-off shotgun. I rarely used them but I liked the choice being there. Maybe that Gears collection will happen one day and it'll have an updated Gears 3 MP

spoiler

Also the sawed-off was just a really fun gun

I also came across a giant fish skeleton but on land. It was pretty impressive- then I traveled south and found another copy, exact same orientation and even the exact same x co-ordinates : oooaaaaaaauhhh

Yes, it's from When Dungeons Arise. This structure is apparently called Keep Kayra. I don't have a problem with giant elaborate structures, even if this specific one I do think is ludicrously gigantic compared to the other ones. After all, I downloaded the mod myself and had an idea of what I was getting into. What I do have a problem with is that these buildings tend to repeat way too often. While I was mapping out the corner of the continent I started on I ran into several copies of the same exact structures multiple times, and since there is no randomisation when it comes to layout with these, they will always be the exact same structures which takes the fun out of exploring them.

Way south of this enormous tower I found a cool Arabian Nights-themed fantasy palace complex in a desert. It looked great! But literally right next to it was a copy of the same palace rotated 90 degrees which kind of took the impact away agony-wholesome

I believe this one is the one I looked at:

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/continents

I tried installing it mid playthrough but you get really harsh borders where the generation changes. I guess I could go edit them in an editor but that would take hours.

There seem to be a few mods with "Seasons" in the title, which one do you mean?

This one? https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/serene-seasons

[-] TheronGuard@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

I've never used it though shrug-outta-hecks

I don't think anyone is emulating PS4 in any meaningful sense currently- AFAIK PS4 emulation only runs homebrew and maybe 2D indie games at the moment.

The Xbox 360 is even farther behind than the Switch and it's not trivial to run on my system. Then again, Switch emulation has much more interest and work put into it, so it may even out

Well, I have the battery in the phone right now and I'm attempting to charge it since it didn't seem to have any juice left and it's acting a bit weird.

First, the phone's charging LED blinks, then the screen shows the battery charging screen for a split second, then the first frame of the boot sequence pops up briefly, then it goes back to black and the charging LED flashes briefly again, rinse and repeat.

I assume it's not looking good for the battery. I'll give it a moment and see if it holds a charge

Didn't the RetroArch guys just steal DuckStation for a core without permission?

I've heard stats like this reported before and it breaks my brain. Are this many people really buying games that they never even install stalin-stressed

How? Why?

After finishing Red Dead Redemption on Xenia, I have a weird itch to play some more of the open world games I've missed. I was just completely exhausted with sandbox games by around 2013 and avoided all of them, even the ones I heard good things about.

Some of the games on my "maybe check out" list:

Sleeping Dogs - Apparently a really good GTA clone. The Hong Kong setting and melee combat make it stand out.

Assassin's Creed 4 - The two additional Ezio games and Assassin's Creed 3 were big factors in why I got completely burned out on open world games but the ship combat is supposed to be really good- also pirates are cool. It should also predate the series turning into a singleplayer MMO thing.

Far Cry 3 - Never got around to playing this despite all the praise. I know the FC3 style got milked to death but there's probably a reason it became used as a template for Ubisoft games. Wasn't this also the game with the retrofuturistic 1980s DLC campaign with Michael Biehn?

Mad Max - From what I've seen this is a pretty generic open world game in the vein of the later Arkham games but it seemed like a pretty faithful recreation of the Mad Max world in video game form.

Not sure which is weirder, that Rockstar would put effort into making an official goofy zombie mod or remembering that they used to do singleplayer expansions :thinking-about-it:

It's peak 2010's zeitgeist either way.

Since I don't trust my rig to be able to handle upscaling in Xenia, I'm stuck with the native resolution and oof, the 7th gen might have been one of the nastiest looking console generations out there outside of early 3D on the PS1/N64/Saturn.

Something about relatively advanced effects being rendered in horrible blotchy sub 720p resolution and the unsteady <30FPS framerates is... not good.

The effect is so subtle, you barely even notice it
