Im not even sure how normal people post on reddit. Everytime ive ever tried to post on there in a community that isn't tiny my post is automatically removed and sent to "manual approval" which never actually happens. it baffles me how a website that is so hard to post on remains popular.

Baofeng AR-5RM Handheld Radio. Costs under 30$ and is extremely useful and versatile. Can pick up just about any frequency youd need, VHF, UHF, AM, FM, GMRS, etc. and while not waterproof its built very tough. Could probably use it to beat somebody to death then pick it back up and have a conversation on it.

No they werent on to something because the rationale given doesnt line up with any legit reason to not eat pork. So at best they just were exercising an abundance of caution without understanding why. Pork needs like any meat to be prepared properly for consumption. If its a food they werent very knowledgeable on they wouldnt know how to prepare it safely. So instead of learning how they just banned it.

Now if you want to make an argument for not eating pork with modern knowledge you can. Pigs are extremely smart and even more so than dogs and some studies suggest chimps. So theres the moral argument not to eat it. But that isn't very convincing to me for pork. All animals are pretty smart and clearly have feelings and emotions and i eat them so why single out pigs to be nice to? I would like to see a transition to lab grown meats eventually, and for farms to treat animals humanely. Its not a very high priority for me on reforming society tho since we dont even treat eachother humanely yet.

Also to get in front of it before someone says "just be vegan/vegetarian then". I was for like 10 years and eventually had to stop because due to health related dietary restrictions i couldn't eat enough foods to get all the nutrients i needed. I have allergies and intolerances that if i were to stop eating animal products i wouldnt be able to eat the plant based alternatives that give the same type of nutrients. So i dont have a choice but to eat animals.

Polsters do not call random people. They will call as many people under 30 as they have to to get a representative sample. They have quotas for different parties, age groups, races, etc. And purposefully target the ones they want and verify with the person that demographic info is right while doing the questions. Atleast good scientific polls will do this. Not all polls are created equal.

Ya so as others have pointed out a week is not enough time to visit all these places. It would be like trying to see all of europe in a week. It would be a more enjoyable experience to focus on a specific area. NYC can be fun and has a lot to do but its very expensive. Expect to spend like 500-800 USD per day and thats with a cheap hotel and not eating at any fancy places. If your like dead set on it you could fit max like 2 or 3 cities into a week but your gonna be missing out on a lot, and spending hours traveling you could be having fun during.

If you really wanna do it tho this is what id suggest as someone who has seen a good bit of the east coast myself.

Fly in to the nothern most city you want to see, probably Boston it sounds like? Spend maybe 1 or 2 days there, take a BUS to NYC(you can arrange to have a couple hour layover in philly to get a cheesesteak if u want). Buses are THE budget travel option in the US. Greyhound, flexibus, etc. Way cheaper than a train and faster usually too. Spend a few days in NYC, then BUS to DC. Youll arrive at union station. Its massive and beautiful. Big marble work, and vaulted ceilings. Awesome architecture. The national mall and museums are the only thing really all that worth seeing in DC imo. You can hit up the ones you want to see in a day or so.

To burst your bubble a bit you mentioned getting your drivers license so i assume your young. In the US you have to be 21 to rent a car. So if you arent yet then thats a no go regardless of if you can drive. Uber and rideshare is probably gonna be your fallback in that case.

Id try to spend the most time in NYC as its the place with the most to see and do altho if your really into historical stuff maybe DC will be more your thing. Or Boston ive never been to Boston so idk how historical it is. You can find lists of attractions for each city online and choose ones you like.

Honestly tho you didnt mention it but if i was gonna see the US for the only time and had a week id go for the natural wonders of north america not the man made stuff since that u can find anywhere. But stuff like the grand canyon, yellowstone, the redwoods, etc are pretty unique.

Try to examine the absurdity of this statement for a moment. You think the current system of governance and control which has barely existed for a century or 2 is going to continue in perpetuity for the rest of human history? You could argue this version of global capitalism isnt even 100 years old yet if you look at the end of WW2 as the start. So your argument is that a system that is younger than some people still alive today will never end? Or is it that you think we will go extinct in the very near short term and people wont overthrow the government before that happens?

Ya i wouldnt be so sure it cant be blocked. The US is turning Alaska into a fortress for exactly this reason. War in the arctic is likely within 10 years maybe less.
