I believe he was talking about the film from 1973, which Kill Bill heavily homages (or rips off, depending on how charitable you're feeling) but shit, I never knew Lady Snowblood was originally a manga.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. People do that with Star Wars a lot as well. Always gives me second hand embarassment.

Plus like, leaving all else aside, I've never understood how peer pressure and making somebody feel lesser for not seeing a particular movie is supposed to make them enthusiastic about doing that (though of course much of the time that isn't the point, it's a mask for a smug sense of superiority)

Yeah, I've never seen anybody else talking or complaining about yet. Very peculiar, and I haven't got a clue what could be up with my phone specifically that could be causing that.

(if I recall correctly, wikipedia even has a page just for Tibetan torture methods)

Would you happen to have a link handy? A cursory google search yields nothing but the expected anti-Maoist trash

You missed out on a lot (through no fault of your own, mind), he's objectively one of the better romance options. He's such a sweetheart when you get him to drop his egomaniacal archmage affectations.

Yeah, really the nicest thing you can say about Lawrence here is that, his genuine affection for the Arabs and their culture aside, his ego and his misguided desire to be a hero saw him used as a pawn by both Allenby and Faisal, and he winds up a broken man for it.

Which isn't too far from how the real Lawrence viewed himself after the war. He's very self-deprecating and pessimistic in the Seven Pillars, which was of course the primary basis for the movie script. The big difference though is that the real Lawrence knew about Sykes-Picot almost from the beginning, and was actively working to sabotage it for most of the campaign. That hardly excuses his arrogance in thinking he was able to play king maker and thwart two empires. Again, the best you can say about him is that he was a somewhat well-meaning, extremely capable, but ultimately misguided and foolish figure.

That may be an overly charitable interpretation, but in my years studying him, I've never gotten the impression that he was some scion of British imperialism. He was just a guy playing hero who dearly paid for it.

I don't want to mislead you here, out of all the machinegames entries into the series, Youngblood is the one I've spent the absolute least time with. But I found many of the narrative decisions off-putting (again, Grace being made a cop, what the fuck), the dialogue wasn't great, the gameplay was repetitive, etcetera. With all that being said, it's been years since I've played it, and I'm going purely off of what I'm sure are questionably reliable memories. Since you've got somebody to play it with (which is good, because while you can play it solo, I definitely felt like I was missing the point by doing so) by all means, give it a shot. Maybe you'll come back and tell me that I was being unkind or harsher with hindsight than perhaps was warranted. I'd be happy to be wrong in this case.

My god, don't even get me started. You have to fuck up in a pretty big way to make me dislike "it was all capitalism and the fascist government's fault" as a premise.

Aren't they canonically the same dude?

Where did you see those numbers if I can ask?

Wrights thick cut applewood smoked is pretty good if you've never had that

I got on the phone with them this morning, they're sending me a new one. They did mention that ASUS mobos are a bit tetchy with AIOs, so if this one gives me similar problems, that'll tell me it's a compatibility issue. At which point I'll just write the whole thing off and get the most effective air cooler I can find lol
