Articles like these price why this country needs the CBC. Keeping politicians honest while providing fair and balanced reporting is an indispensable task needed to keep the populace informed and democracy working as intended.
I live in an area that has lots of heli skiing, and while your general assessment of it being a rich person's hobby is correct, this late in the season is generally locals that saved for a trip for the whole year and now get to book with heavy rebates.
While I'm not saying that's the case here, I'd still err on the side of sympathy.
[Edit] Turns out the founder of Dinosaurs will Die was killed in that avalanche (source: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/tributes-3-heli-skiers-killed-avalanche-1.7493921). Rest in peace Jeff, and ride on in the afterlife.
What the fuck? I know it's Donald Dump, but despite all the insanity happening since his inauguration this is the first headline that manages to surprise even me. Dude's talking about annexing Canada and Greenland on one hand, but then bows to the former UK colonial project? What?
GG Trump, I honestly did not see this one coming.
Yeah, that one really makes fuck all sense.
There's a great video on YT that goes into all the terrible edits in this movie, and they cover literally almost the entire runtime of the film.
I can only assume the academy was either bribed or blackmailed to come to this decision.
I'm not onboard with that conspiracy, as there were certainly attempts on his life throughout his reign. But I do agree with the relevancy of that Sun Tzu quote.
By 1943 Hitler was making such poor decisions it would've actually benefited the Nazi war effort if he had been removed from power.
Yeah that makes more sense and how I've understood it to work. Guaranteed retirement =/= retired.
Fair. It's my main reason for not owning an Oculus headset. Sadly Microsoft decided to turn my WMR headset into e-waste later this year, so I will need to find a replacement in due time.
I think what is considered acceptable strongly depends on where you live to be honest. Driving while druk (a felony offense in most places) is extremely frowned upon by the general public. At least, it is where I live.
Although I do get where you are coming from in terms of other behaviors, there's a reason traffic violations are the most ticketed offenses in just about any country.
What about Video 2000? The audio quality was so much better that when we finally switched to a VHS player I thought there was something wrong with the cable connecting it to the TV.
Agreed, that is pretty ridiculous in its own right. It does show how the police aren't there to "serve and protect" though, which really makes you wonder what their purpose is in modern society.
Thanks for reminding me of how good David Wong used to be at capturing popular thought and placing you into a certain perspective. I might not agree with some of the generalizations of that article, but it does help understand their perspective.
We're quite jealous of your voting system here in upside-down Australia. We just had another "vote strategic" moment that resulted in all of the minor parties losing influence just to keep the conservatives out of power. Trudeau's biggest lasting failure will be his inability to actually pass vote reform like he promised, and FPTP will eventually result in us graduating from US-light to full on US-two-party-ism.
