One of the big problems with communism is that economic prosperity is framed fundamentally as a zero sum game. When that's a foundational axiom of the system you build you wind up not building systems of growth, only of redistribution. It has rippling effects throughout the culture and the philosophy of a nation that attempts it.
While I'd say altruism is not a virtue the way it is defined in our culture, I will say that who we are is about 50% nature and 50% nurture, and inside we are very different beings for one reason or other. A born sociopath is only human the same as you in visible form, the being is nothing like you. A person who was badly abused and tattoos his face and perpetuates abuse on those around him is completely different from you both. A monk in a monestsry and an Instagram influencer are completely different beings inside, besides some basic neurology that makes them both human. If you could see the being inside every human they'd look as different as Pokémon. That's my philosophical insight.
If you won't clean a litter box you aren't fit to care for an indoor cat.
I had a cat that I adopted from some piece of shit that was bad to him. He always wanted to go outside like a lot of cats, was enamored with it when the door opened. So I let him. This was a choice I made, I knew life for an outside cat was harder but he was happier, and he was neutered so I let him go outside. I never had to change litter, he went outside every time. But it came with a price: he died early from being bit by a snake or something. I always knew it was a possibility but I knew my cat, he would've been miserable cooped up all the time. He was a free soul.
So you have a choice: clean a litter box every day, without fail, even if you hate it, or let your cat go outside whenever he wants. He will get beaten up by other cats, stuck in trees, attacked by wild animals, he will not come home sometimes for 2 days, he will come home sometimes looking like he got the shit beat out of him by another cat. You have to make sure he doesn't get picked up by the pound, that your apartments won't flip out on you or get him picked up, and he could get run over by a car. Maybe he won't like being outside, in which case it's not an option, you're cleaning a litter box. Or, if you can't deal with either, don't have a cat. Someone who won't clean a litter box has no business having a cat, go shit and piss in the corner of your bedroom and leave it there and see how happy you are with that state of affairs, that's what you do to your cat being a lazy bum.
I drop usernames without a second thought if it suits me. I use different ones I think up on the fly most of the time. The only one that matters to me is one attached to my development activities in the FOSS community, and I might share opinions using it but primarily I use it to engage in discussion related to development so that people who know me in those circles know who they're talking to.
So if you had a son that was a serial child rapist murderer (or a Nazi, you decide) you'd still show them affection and care for them? You might love them in your heart, but you wouldn't love them in your actions. All love is conditional, and if you don't believe that it's because the conditions for you are unfathomable. I love my children, if one were a serial child rapist murderer I'd help try to get them on death row. I have conditions on which they will receive my support and care, and honestly kids need expectations. It's not like I'd stop loving them if they called me a meanie butthead. There are serious conditions that they're unlikely to not meet, but if they don't, I'm not there for them.
Someone spends their youth caring for a child, all the resources, dedicated, and their heart gets ripped out and torn to shreds. Their life was a lie, their life was stolen from them. How they react to that is very personal. It may not even be that they don't love the kid, just that they can't cope with seeing their face without breaking down. I won't judge someone for either leaving or staying. You don't understand it, hopefully you never have to. This is one of those things where we have no right to judge someone's reaction, unless of course it's murder or something like that.
It's not his daughter though.
The OP is irritated for some reason, I guess they really wanted that insight.
I can't think of how. Rural areas are areas with little organization, very little infrastructure, people are largely self sufficient. Would it be busses? Minivans? How would you organize such a system? Where would it even take people, Walmart? To each other's doorstep? I just don't see how you'd build something like that, or even really why. I get it in the city, I get trains for long distances, but rural areas getting people around, I just don't see it.
Considering they're asking us how to win at such a dialogue, I've got to say, probably.
It's not about shaking resolve. Why do his followers support him? It's easy to say because they're stupid, or because they don't see through his bullshit or whatever. It's because they have a need, something missing in the political landscape, something they think he represents and can deliver. If you ignore how he does this and why they feel the way they do and just dismiss them as racist or stupid or whatever you're destined to fail, you're missing a very powerful social and political undercurrent.
You see the popularity of RFK within the Democrat party, it's a similar thing. Everyone's missing something, that something is candor, honesty, good faith work on behalf of the people. It doesn't matter if the person is actually acting in good faith or not, if they're able to present themselves as doing so by signalling that they're not slimy opportunists who will promise anything for power, people will support them.
As someone who's done it I'll tell you it's worth it. Sure, you get some real bumpkins out there. They can be rough but they're mostly friendly. Some of them are stupid, but that's anywhere. They're usually simpler for sure, and the pace is slower, and the rules are more lax, and that can be hard getting used to, but once you're used to it, no traffic and your amazon packages are still on your doorstep waiting for you.
Just avoid tweaker towns, which is harder than it sounds.
