GDP is a misleading thing to look at. 15% of Chinese exports go to the US. 7% of commodities imported to China come from the US. The US is the largest trade partner of China. It's still manageable for China to cut off trade from the US, but it's more significant than 2%.

I missed it in the first press video I watched because the audio was scuffed, but Van Hollen does say that the El Salvador government officials has asked him to do the interview next to a hotel swimming pool.

Van Hollen added that Bukele’s government wanted the meeting to take place by a pool: “They actually wanted to have the meeting [take place] by the side of the pool in the hotel,” he said. “This is a guy who’s been in CECOT. This is a guy who has been detained. They want to create this appearance that life was just lovely for Kilmar, which, of course, is a big fat lie.”

Kikkoman is not a US company. It is headquartered in Noda, Japan. It may have some factories in America. That does not mean that it is an American company. They will likely face the tariffs. They probably import much of the ingredients from other countries.

I worked at a Japanese factory (not soy sauce) within America for 1 year. We made the product in America but it was still a Japanese-owned company. There were regularly overseers flying in from Japan to visit the factory. I had to fill out the paperwork with romanized Japanese words. I don't speak Japanese. I had to memorize new words for every terminology of the production process. It was kind of funny seeing white boomer American casually using these words. Just because a factory is located in US, doesn't mean that it is a US company.

There announcement was made in 2 parts, a 7 minute trailer and an interview with the lead devs.

The 7 minute video tells us:

  • "Maps were made more rewarding", but he also uses the word "balance" which makes me think that some rewards have been reduced.
  • There are now 5 possible tower map layouts instead of 1, 4 new layouts added and the original layout is reworked.
  • Boss spawn rate has been increased with the intention of 1 boss per 4 maps.
  • Introducing a Boss precursor tablet to add bosses to maps which do not have them.
  • Strongboxes open more quickly.
  • On death monster mechanics have been made more visible.
  • Zoom out further on the atlas and faster atlas load time.
  • Omen drop rate increased by 60%.
  • Citadels are now visible through the fog by a beam of light.
  • Arbiter of Ash boss now gives you 6 attempts to kill it per fragment set, previously 1 attempt.
  • Copper Citadel boss has been made easier
  • Buffing leveling unique items. None the previews they showed looked interesting.
  • Fixed a bug where tier 5 unidentified rares were blocking some mods, such as max tier life on rings.
  • Socketed runes in items can now be overwritten with other runes.
  • Item filters are now available on console systems.
  • Effectiveness of the armor stat has been improved.

I'm a long time super hero movie hater. I went to the theater to watch the new Dead Pool movie with a friend. The premise of the new Dead Pool movie is similar to Ready Player One. Dead Pool gets kidnapped by Time Police and sent into a place called like "The Void", stylized like the Mad Max universe. Inside the void are all the characters of previous unsuccessful Super Hero franchises: Elektra, Fantastic Four, Blade, numerous Xmen movies, etc. The whole movie is just Dead Pool trying to escape The Void and discovering other shitty super heros in The Void. The similarity that I see with Ready Player One is the reliance on references to previous pop culture as the primary form of content. The movies lose the shape of an original work and become a regurgitation of pop culture references.

Until today, the Democrats had named someone, the democratic establishment had chosen Joe Biden as the nominee. Until today, most people thought that Joe Biden wouldn't drop out, out of spite. People did not believe that Joe Biden would drop out. Everyone thought that there was going to be a repeat of 2016 where the Democrats lose because they chose an deeply unlikeable candidate.

Up until this point, Hasan has consistently said that Joe Biden should drop out. That means that Hasan has been consistently saying the opposite of what you just said. He's been saying that the Democrats should have had an actual primary and not a coronation. He has even said that it's good that they haven't selected a candidate yet because it's harder for Trump to run attack ads.

What you said is so funny because it is so clear that you're projecting your own mental demons. You're criticizing your own made up guy.

Dog meat is still consumed in DPRK. Almost every year since at least 2009, KCNA (official DPRK news) has reported a tangogi cooking contest in Pyongyang around the end of July. Tangogi is the korean word for dog meat. I would suspect that they are hosting the same again this year around July 22.

I like the DPRK. I read the DPRK state media pretty frequently and it doesn't seem like they intend to slow down dog meat consumption.

exampleHere is an article for Rodong Sinmun, a newspaper in DPRK, from July 2023. It says that a tangogi cooking contest was held from July 18 to July 20. There's no photos on the page.

PLA warns off US warship near Xisha Islands

By Jiang Chenglong | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2023-11-25 19:31

The Chinese military warned off a United States warship that illegally entered China's territorial waters off the Xisha Islands in the South China Sea on Saturday, a spokesman for the People's Liberation Army said.

Senior Colonel Tian Junli, spokesman for the PLA's Southern Theater Command, said on Saturday that the guided-missile destroyer USS Hopper illegally intruded into China's territorial waters off the Xisha Islands on Saturday without the approval of the Chinese government.

The theater command has organized air and naval forces to follow and monitor it, and drove it away according to law, he said.

Tian criticized the US action as a serious violation of China's sovereignty and security, and "another iron proof" that the US is pursuing "navigation hegemony" and creating "militarization of the South China Sea."

He said that it fully showed that the US is a "security risk maker in the South China Sea" and the "biggest destroyer" of peace and stability in the region.

The spokesman warned that the troops of the theater command will remain on high alert at all times and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and security as well as the peace and stability in the South China Sea.
