These are just the rules of the community called "The Scene". Fitgirl is not scene, for example. Also torrent sites are not part of the scene. Groups which release their content to torrent sites are usually called P2P groups. Torrents have built in hash checking as part of the torrent protocol. A release is only "The Scene" if it is listed in a predb.

The reason that Scene use CRC32 is probably because the scene is focused on racing. SHA256 would have a much longer calculation time. The scene has bunches of different groups, but there is only allowed to be 1 scene release per content slot. The scene rules set a minimum quality requirement. Whichever group fills the slot first has their group name in the predb forever. If a release is a duplicate or doesn't match the rules, then it gets "nuked". The groups compete with each other to be fastest.

I think also the CRC rule was originally decided in 1998. This might be the main reason.

In either case, be sure that you are not creating a solid archive, because if you do, the FTP sites will not be able to test the CRC integrity of each of the individual 15 meg segment file.

Before you start thinking about uploading your RAR files, please run a quick CRC test on each .0* file to check the validity of the archive. Ensure that you didn't run out of hard drive space during the archive processing which could result in bad files.

The real story here is that North Carolina implemented Obama's 2010 Medicaid expansion in December 2023. As part of the implementation, the government is paying off the medical debts of low income people accrued from 2014 to 2023.

Then in September, this company decides to "forgive" 11500 debts right after the government started paying off old debts. That seems suspicious. Why would this company turn down government money from old debts? Seems like the company was trying to scam poor people and realized that the government wouldn't pay the phony bills, so then the debt magically disappears.

Why is it in the news again after the CEO shooting when it happened in September? Because it gets clicks. It's coworker talk. "Hey Bob, ye heard the medical companies are forgiving debts after they got shots? haha"

I wish this was true. POE 1 is my favorite game ever. GGG was supposed to release the next POE 1 expansion this month but they delayed it until March. In the past, POE 1 expansions lasted for 3 months. By the time the current POE 1 expansion ends, it will have run for 7 months. We lost an entire POE 1 expansion because of this POE 2 release and it's likely GGG will cut POE 1 development even more.

I think that the fake Danny Devito death is a funny joke and I'll explain why.

Hexbear has a culture. Hexbear has it's own memes and references and stuff like that. The fakenews comm uses references and memes from Hexbear culture to create a story, an alternative world.

One meme on Hexbear that I've seen is like the idolization of Italian people or the Italian mafia. I believe this meme stems from Chris Cuomo in 2019 saying that "fredo" was a slur for Italians equivalent to the n-word. This is like obviously an absurd thing for Cuomo to say and chapo made fun of him for it. Then a meme sort of developed that "Italians are the most oppressed race" meme, making fun of Cuomo and other white people. Hextube started watching a lot of mafia movies and hextube made a bunch of mafia emotes exclusive to hextube. Danny Devito is partly of Italian descent and he has acted in more than one Mafia movie.

Another element is that Danny Devito is perceived as a left-leaning guy. Danny Devito campaigned for Bernie Sanders in 2016 and in 2020. Danny Devito is a beloved figure in general. Reddit loves Danny Devito. Chapos love Danny Devito. You probably love Danny Devito, which is why you are upset about a fake story.

The third element is Melina. Melina also loves Danny Devito. Danny Devito plays Frank on Always Sunny. Melina is a super fan of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, even watches their podcast as well as the show.

In my opinion, humor is a subversion of expectations. You expect one thing to happen, but then something else happens, and the surprise that you experience causes you to laugh. I've established that Danny Devito is a beloved figure and that Melina loves Danny Devito. The expectation for me is that Melina would create a fakenews post which idolizes Danny Devito. The real outcome is that Melina creates a fakenews post which kills Danny Devito. Melina kills their own hero in fantasy. I think that is funny.

Around 4 months ago at Exilecon, GGG announced that all characters would have an ability called Dodge Roll by pressing the space bar. POE 1 does not have this ability. POE 1 has numerous movement skill gems that can move or teleport your character in various ways, and most of these skills also deal damage. In ruthless mode all of the movement skill gems are removed and you are given 1 movement skill called Quick Step.

I think GGG wants POE 2 gameplay to be slow. I would not be surprised if there was no movement skills or very few movement skills. I think this makes it more souls-like.

In this new video today, they announced that POE 2 will have WASD movement instead of mouse click movement. The skill system is being reworked so like you still have links but like sockets will be shaped differently or something. It stood out to me in the trailer today that the new classes will have like attack patterns. I think it said that the one class is going to have combo points that you build up by attacking and if stop attacking, you lose the combo points. Then it said there was another class that was inherently slow that needed to time the attacks at a certain rate.

Also I am under the impression the POE 2 will have much less loot. GGG tested this out in 3.19 Kalandra league and people hated it. Kalandra league had one of the worst player retentions of any league. Then in 3.21 Crucible league, they introduced a separate game mode called Ruthless Mode where there are much less drops than the normal game play. Still very few people play ruthless mode and even none of the twitch streamers are willing to play it. The loot pinata aspect of the game is one of the more fun parts in my opinion, so I don't like the loot reduction concept.

In my experience with POE, the game is about trying to play in ways that were unintended. Finding things that you weren't supposed to do and then doing them for the maximum amount of benefit. "Exploit early, exploit often." I try to make a character that has as much damage as possible so that I can kill things without having to do any mechanics. I don't want to learn fight mechanics. I just want to kill everything in 2 seconds.

I think overall, GGG is trying to make POE 2 into more of a souls-like game. I'm not sure that I will like POE 2. Fortunately they have said that POE 2 will not be the end of POE 1, both games will still receive expansions and continue to be playable.

The next POE 1 patch comes out on December 8, I made another thread about it.

I'll list some things that stand out to me in the trailer.

• The new affliction league mechanic opens a hole in the ground in your maps. You have limited light and you run out of light if you move too much. Not sure about this.
• There's a new item called a tincture. You can only use 1 tincture at a time. It functions like a flask and goes into the flask slot. This is maybe a nerf to mageblood belt.
• The league mechanic allows you to have a second ascendancy tree. It appears that this is not linked to your class and there 3 options in total, one of the ascendancies allows you to socket special items called charms.
• There is a new way to add mods to monsters, called wisps. Wisps make the monster stronger but also drop more loot. It will be interesting to see how these mods interact with other mods like nemesis mods, delirium mods, and tormented mods. Last league had an exploit where combining tormented and delirium monsters mods would cause an insane amount of loot to drop.
• The league mechanic includes a new itemized corpse which is purchased at a vendor. You can place the corpse on the ground. One of the new league ascendancies allows you to consume the corpse to have extra damage and survivability. You can also turn the corpse into a spectre minion, this could be a huge buff to minion builds.
• One of the league ascendancies includes 3 new curses, including one that causes monsters to explode. Explode is always good for clear speed.
• Ultimatum is going core. METAMORPH IS REMOVED FROM THE GAME Catalysts have been added to Ultimatum.
• Labyrinth Enchants and Alternative Quality Gems are REMOVED FROM THE GAME?? The Labyrinth now allows you to create a new type of gems called Transfigured Gem. This probably breaks a lot of builds but also makes new builds possible. This is a massive game change.
