The other day I had lightning strike super close to my house (about 2 seconds to hear the huge thunder crack). It occurred to me that I didn't actually know how lightning worked so I looked it up, reminded me that nature is fucking wild. And then, you're right, we saw that and were like "let's get it in our house fellas"

How did they come in to your life, what was your connection like, what made them different from other cats? Are they still with you, if not how do you cope with the loss? Photos appreciated too obvs.

These are beautiful! I love the diversity of texture in the different tendrils.

I have ADHD and can't seem to actually finish a god damn project, but starting them is easy! So...

Woodworking/carving:

  • spoonula that I literally just need to finish sanding
  • trinket bowl
  • need to bleach and oil a dozen cheese knives I otherwise finished six months ago lol
  • espresso tamper
  • compost tamper

Sewing:

  • a bunch of swaddle blankets for some pregnant friends
  • UPF fabric kaftan for the beach
  • slipcover for my office chair

"No really my name is Alcatraz! Like the prison island. Dennis is just a nickname. I swear! Also you haven't met my girlfriend because she goes to a different school, I talk to her on AIM."

Things I love about this comment:

  1. Singing Emmerly and Ivory
  2. Emmerly's mlem matching the cat food bag
  3. "Staredycat Sister's"
  4. The fact that Char Char is a tortoiseshell, because I think they look like orange cats that got stuck in a sooty chimney

  • Crunch Boy (when he's eating)
  • Whiny Baby (when he's feeling talkative)

I know I'm not the only queer person who has struggled with substance abuse – it's not uncommon in our community because of the chronic trauma so many of us do and have experience/d from our families, friends, and society at large.

I make art based on my experiences as a queer sober person and the joy it has brought to my life. If you want to take a look, it’s on Instagram and I also recently duplicated it to Pixelfed (federated photo-sharing community).

I'm working on a piece right now about alcohol companies rainbow-washing for pride. I think they are aware of the alcohol abuse in our community and it sucks. But it also is important to be represented in society, which is, at the moment, capitalism.

I welcome DMs from anyone who wants to talk about their drinking if they are worried it's problematic, or just want to talk. I've been sober for over three years :)

Disclaimer: Many people, including queer people, are able to drink in a way that is not disordered or unhealthy for them. I don't judge anyone who drinks!
