Somewhat same. Followed a girl I had a crush on to a local school. Met my wife during my last semester, and she's been my best friend ever since.

And I never even dated the girl I had a crush on...

The streamer Atrioc recently made a comment about old videos like this that really makes me think every time I see a throwback like this.

He pointed out how our media consumption has completely changed, and that for many of the most viral videos 10 years ago, people wouldn't even make it halfway through them if they were posted today.

"Charlie bit my finger" was so popular but if it had been released today would be absolutely ignored. The actual bite doesn't happen for 20 seconds which is longer than most short form content

Good lord they look exceptionally soft. It's impossible to resist disturbing them

Also how is this being exclusively associated with the US?

I mean I get it, we like guns and this is the US version of Amazon, but it's not like we have these toys in every household. And it's not like other countries don't have guns present in their culture (video games, movies, etc.).

They are most likely produced in China and are definitely going to be uncommon.

It's like making a post "the US has 80-gallon drums of lube no joke". It just feels like rage bait with an anti-US agenda

Edit: Got home and did the most rudimentary search on the U.K., France, and Swedish version of Amazon. An identical or closely similar product is available on all of them.

I suspect people just assumed you were the same person who wrote the sarcastic comment before the one you replied to and that you were just being combative

Okay, if not for your own cat's safety then do it for the good of the environment.

House cats are non-native species who are subsidized by humans feeding them. Thus they can kill purely for pleasure and often do. Every year, house cats kill billions of birds (and rodents) and it's an ecological nightmare that is putting massive pressure on wildlife.

Please, just don't do it. It's unnecessary. You can create a stimulating environment inside and if you cannot then you shouldn't get a cat.

No one seems to have said it yet, but consistency. Waking up at the same time every day including weekends. Eventually, you just wake up early naturally. I get up at 5:30 am every day on the dot with zero alarm just because it's when I wake up. And I'm never groggy, because I've adapted to it. It's not early anymore it's just when I wake up

I think the second half to this is that it can't be a chore. You have to want to wake up. If you wake up and think about how much you hate being awake it will be all the harder

One example comes to mind where I almost did.

I used to drive an older Pontiac. It wasn't the fanciest car, so it wasn't the most performant.

One day, I was leaving a restaurant with a girl I was dating, and had to merge into traffic up a hill. I knew the car would need all the power it could get to do the merge safely, so I turned off the air-conditioning. Confused, the girl asked why I did that. I explained that air conditioning affects the performance of the car. She disagreed. She was raised a bit privileged and had only ever driven nice cars, so never noticed the performance hit of having the A/C on.

We bickered back and forth for a minute or two before I said "okay look I'll show you" and reached to turn off the A/C. Before I could, however, she hit me with "you know, you don't always have to be right". I didn't end up getting to prove it to her.

In her defense, I can be very stubborn when its something I am confident I'm correct in, and we actually argued a lot about stuff. Another example of an argument we had was over the fact that prairie dogs can carry the plague. She didn't believe me and I remember we had to look up the answer. And that was on our second date.

I think about that line she hit me with a lot. But I also realize that in a lot of our "arguments" I was still having fun. To me, there's a playful aspect to a good argument. As long as nobody is yelling or getting feelings hurt, it's a fun way to pass the time. Unfortunately, I didn't realize she wasn't having fun like I was.

I feel this. While I am not overly fond of capitalism or the United States government, most of the memes criticizing them are so un-funny they hurt. They weren't made because the OP had a funny idea for a meme, but because they wanted to insult the U.S. or capitalism and had to find some joke to do it. They feels so forced.

I think we as a community can balance making a political point with being actually funny at least a little better than we do

I've actually gotten much better about hangovers, because I'm so conscious now about drinking water - I DOWN water while drinking more than one and it usually works out for me the next morning
