In the first place I think a better way to establish "is life in this given place good", would be to address to good vs bad in that place, as opposed to the good in that place vs the bad everywhere else.

If you must make the point through comparisons, using the weakest possible arguments while standing in for the opposing side makes it seem you've either want to misrepresent it, or don't feel secure enough in your position.

I could get into the factual claims that could be challenged but maybe that was the AI. There's absolutely an argument that Western media and cultures create intense, xenophobic biases, but there are more compelling ways to make it.

The biggest, wealthiest, most advanced polling firms in the US couldn't get it right either, horrendously so in recent memory. I don't think that's down to conspiracy, but how to weight your samples when so many people don't want to answer a phone call from an unusual number.

I've used EaseUS's free partition manager to clone Windows 10, in order to move from an hdd to an empty SSD. It handled setting up a place for itself to boot into while cloning, and managed to get the partition table etc right as well. There are alternatives for sure, but the nice UI put me at ease(...) for some reason.

You'll probably be fine with the proprietary Nvidia driver aside from minor annoyances, assuming you have a relatively new card- on one PC with a legacy card waking from suspend doesn't work, on a relatively new 960gtx waking results in glitched fonts until I log out of the user. Steam under Wayland occasionally has UI glitches with the top drop down menu for me, though a) supposedly it's better under flatpak b) supposedly it was fixed recently broadly, waiting to get that update.

And remember to back things up before making changes!

I'm not sure the answers so far get to the gist of the problem- how to create these institutions in balance of power, where they can't just co-opt or capture one another.

I don't think it's possible to prevent one institution from actively deciding to give up and relinquish its responsibilities, without constraining or bolstering them to where they can't act as balances.

If they want power they find a way.

Hypothetically what if the actual counties and states in question didn't elect governors, senators, and a president that was Republican, because in reality they did? Hypothetically? What if?

I wonder if they know what the hell they're doing. Or maybe they don't care or keep track, it's just "how much can we get away with this time".

This week will be telling, unless dates get pushed back again in both cases. I guess we see if rule of law is just openly gone now, without even the usual pretenses.

People do all kinds of strange things on the internet.

They prohibit large amounts of media being streamed, and they reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for it. Multiple years in, that has not happened.

Harsh but true. When you take away those that actively supports the regime, then those that are apathetic, that's well over half the population. A present day Boston tea party would mostly result in mass anger over sweet tea availability.

Then those few that remain may not want to risk getting their skulls cracked, legally run over and declared terrorists by the institutions they're asking to change. It simply doesn't leave the critical mass necessary to have thousands in the streets.
