You stated the reason yourself. Those are different values and matching in a case-insensitive manner is more work under the hood.

What could possibly be in the vaccines that would be worse than your child no longer existing?

The article says the man is a Mennonite, which means he probably believes in an afterlife. In his mind his child still exists and he'll get to see her again when he passes and spends eternity there.

I pretty firmly believe that afterlife beliefs account for a pretty significant distortion of values in people and helps explain a large number of frankly insane behaviours. Preventing deaths becomes much less important when there's an eternal paradise waiting for you and the "real" risk is doing something that bars you from going there.

Alternatively you do like the Parker Solar Probe and do 7 Venus flybys, bleeding off a little speed each time with an inverse gravity assist.

I'd argue that they still exist, unless we're just ignoring prison labour.

That wouldn't distribute the load of storing it though. Anyone on the torrent would need to set aside 100PBs of storage for it, which is clearly never going to happen.

You'd want a federated (or otherwise distributed) storage scheme where thousands of people could each contribute a smaller portion of storage, while also being accessible to any federated client. 100,000 clients each contributing 1TB of storage would be enough to get you one copy of the full data set with no redundancy. Ideally you'd have more than that so that a single node going down doesn't mean permanent data loss.

GOG games are DRM free and do not need to be cracked. They're freely shareable as-is.

The question is whether the crossplay works between the Steam and GOG versions, and a quick Google shows that the answer is yes.

Generally things are engineered with a safety margin so that they are absolutely safe for regular use and minor manufacturing defects or unusual usage don't cause immediate failure. That ladder rated for 400lbs will hold more than 400lbs before it collapses. Sometimes much more. This is normal and sometimes manufacturers like to show off how far above spec they are.

That said, the human jaw is quite strong, and structural wood is not generally expected to withstand high perpendicular shearing forces. I also don't really believe Tesla solar roofs would hold up to bowling balls, despite that being essentially a very extreme piece of hail.

Even if absolutely everything is documented there is still the loss of familiarity and comfort working with a given system.

Having perfectly documented processes still might mean that a new engineer could take multiple hours following instructions to do what the person who originally built the system managed off the top of their head in fifteen minutes.

Torrents aren't a great option for a niche thing that doesn't have a wide audience.

As someone who did suffer from a "bowel related disability" I appreciate that you are willing to take this stand.

I will however also add that in case of genuine emergency there was literally, and I assure you that I am using that word correctly, no force on earth that would prevent the inevitable from happening. The desperate determination with which I asserted that need proved sufficient, on at least one occasion, to gain me access to an airplane toilet during taxi.

If a Starbucks employee denied me access to their toilet at a moment of genuine need they'd've ended up with a pile of very loose stool on their floor.

I have never seen a normal conversation that address any of the conserns that parents and people who have conservative values would have.

Because their concerns are delusional.

You can't have a "normal conversation" about kitty litter boxes being placed in schools for students who are furries. It never happened, but someone told them it did and now they're angry about it. Try to tell them it's not happening and they fell for a hoax and then they accuse you of being blind to the truth and hurting children.

Constructive discourse is impossible. All you can hope to do is limit their influence by appealing to people who have not already fallen for their fear mongering. Engaging directly is a trap.

Joke's on you. IP geolocation where I am is an unreliable mess and your image got it wrong by about 1000km!
