It probably helps that he's wealthy and likely to have a good lawyer on retainer. An average person might find more mixed results with the phrase. Doesn't hurt to know your rights and to advocate firmly for yourself though. Most pigs don't know what to do when someone is educated on the minutiae of procedure and codes.

Hasan is rich and famous enough that it would be more trouble than it's worth unless Hasan completely fucks up by saying shit like, "I am a card-carrying member of Hamas."
