Image is of destruction and damage inside Israel, sourced from this article.
Iran and Israel have struck each other many times over the last few days. There has been a general focus on military facilities and headquarters by both sides, though Israel has also struck oil facilities, civilian structures and hospitals, and in return for this, Iran has struck major scientific centers and the Haifa oil facilities.
Israel appears to have three main aims. First, to collapse the Iranian state, either through shock and breakdown by killing enough senior officials, or via some sort of internal military coup. Second, to try and destroy Iranian nuclear sites and underground missile cities, or at least to paralyze them long enough to achieve the first and third goals. And third, to bring the US into a direct conflict with Iran. This is because the US better equipped to fight them than Israel is (though victory would still not be guaranteed depending on what Iran chooses to do).
Iranian nuclear facilities are hidden deep underground (800 meters), far beyond the depth range of even the most powerful bunker busters (~70 meters or so), and built such that the visible ground entrances are horizontally far away in an unknown direction from the actual underground chambers. Only an extremely competent full-scale American bombing force all simultaneously using multiple of the most powerful conventional (perhaps even nuclear) bunker busters could even hypothetically hope to breach them (and we have seen how, in practice, American bunker busters have largely failed to impair or deter Ansarallah). There are several analysts on both sides who have concluded that it is entirely impossible to physically prevent Iran from building nukes.
I fully expect the US to join the war. I believe the current ambiguity is a deliberate invention of the US while they work to move their military assets into position, and as soon as they are ready, the US will start bombing Iran. After that, Iran's leadership must - if they haven't already - harden their hearts, and strike back with no fear, or risk following the path of Libya, Syria, and Iraq, either into either surrender, occupation, or annihilation. Every day where they do not possess a nuke is a day where lives are being lost and cities are being bombed.

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

Does he seriously think we're dumb enough to not know he made up his mind days ago
months ago
YEARS. He was about to start the war before covid hit.
God only knows what beyond crazy shit they will discuss.
Any of us added to their Signal chat?
"All clean on OPSEC as ALWAYS" Hegseth said but then my connection got weird and I don't know what's up.
B-2s on Fordow would be the biggest topic.
I’m assuming there’s basically nothing Iran can do to directly counter this if/when they choose to do it? Obviously regional action is on the table, but Fordow specifically would be fucked?
if they know the site is likely to get destroyed it's not going to mean a total loss, doesn't matter what we think will happen, Iran has its plans and can't hear it, nor will Iranians hear us, our job as non Iranians to do what we are able to do.
Sure, I’m just asking if the site would be likely to be destroyed
depends on how deep it actually is, which is a disputed figure between 80 and 800 meters
Who says it’s 800 meters?
IAEA guy Grossi, who's likely wrong, but the possibility for Fordow being deeper than 80 at least in parts is conceivable
Do you have a link to that?

he actually says half mile, technically
Tyty
I think that was a statement from an Iranian general that was taken out of context, maybe some expression that got language barriered.
They will light the region on fire
Inshallah
Possibly, but none of us know how the facility is set up. Maybe if Iran is willing to risk some air defences they could take down something expensive. If Tehran is a sign of anything it's that the air defense network is picking and choosing its battles; and I dont think it will pick a fight with a hundred stealth aircraft, SEAD escorts, and stealth bombers.
In my mind's eye I hear Trump saying "Who wants to take out Fordow?... Okay, that number is bigger than I thought. Who wants to not take out Fordow?... That number is smaller than I thought... All you guys are following all my posts on Truth - right? I'll post the answer tomorrow after lunch - so be watching."
I'm trying not to be a doomer. Trying-trying-trying.
The United States, with all its imperial swagger and might, was unable to destroy Iraq. Afghanistan defeated the imperialists, with tremendous cost yes, but they won nonetheless. I have no doubt a similar fate awaits them in the mountains of Iran.
Okay so Iraq isnt destroyed and has regained much of its autonomy, but it still houses thousands of American soldiers and beyond a few armed miltants doesn't have means to challenge the US, let alone the political will to do so.
I dont think it weakens your point to exclude it though, just that I don't consider Iraq's occupation "defeated" yet.
Yeah that's why I didn't say Iraq defeated the imperialists, just that they weren't destroyed. Iraq is still a thing, millions of people live and die in Iraq, living out full lives filled with joys and disappointments.
There's still a way out of this that doesn't involve Iran surrendering (purely my opinion, obviously) but Iran basically has to threaten to drag the rest of the Gulf down with it if they get hit, with special emphasis on hitting any economic assets that the West is invested in. Money and violence are the only languages these people understand. Telling Donald Trump that he can strike Iran but all of his assets in the UAE are going to be destroyed by rocket/missiles is speaking his language.
I think that's their plan, but that does also risk dragging in extra countries that Iran has worked hard to normalise with in recent years.
What good is normalized diplomatic relations if Iran is regime changed? These countries are doing worse than nothing, they are actively assisting the zionist entity. They made their decision
Moreso that even if they're doing nothing more to help iran now, they could do more to hurt Iran instead.
Pretty sure they will have their hands full with evacuating their entire populations once desalination plants go down
These are countries that have signed the Abraham Accords, house US troops, are actively participating the defense and logistical support or Israel, or are allowing others to do so in their territory. They already picked a side. Assad thought that he was going to reconcile with the other Arab states, too, and look how that worked out for him.
They have to basically close the strait of Hormuz. After all they said they would go after western assets in the region if the usa attacked.
