one of his former employees, Lauren Bousfield, has alleged that he fired her for coming out as trans

it's not relevant to this post obviously but I think people should know about that

I mean people are totally fine with Norman Finkelstein even though he's a raging transphobe so most Hexbears probably won't care about this either, unfortunately.

I really dislike Finkelstein for this reason. Such a powerful advocate for his entire life against a genocide in Palestine as well as holding transphobic views? Just baffling.

People react irrationally at times to certain groups or things, and that’s just a weird quirk of being human. I hate AI for example, and I know it’s not 100% rational. I probably ascribe certain aspects to AI that may not be true.

Big difference between having not logical feelings towards technology versus human beings. I don't think those are comparable. Finkelstein's works on Palestine can be highly valued while saying that the man lacks understanding and empathy for aspects of people not related to their ethnicity/nation of birth.

Your feelings on AI might be wrong (though I don't know that it's so), but them being associated with non-humans changes the quality entirely

I did not know this about Finkelstein

Shit, nevermind then. Very not cool.
