Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

~~The reports indicate that it was 2 detainees who are injured and the suspect shot themself.~~ It would seem that the attack was targeting the immigrants rather than the ICE agents.
The latest report says 1 person was killed, 2 people are hospitalized, the shooter is also dead. No ICE agents were harmed. Police are now refusing to specify that the victims are detainees.
JD Vance posted on twitter that this was an attack on Law Enforcement, despite it being detainees who were shot.

CNN already has pundits on yapping about supposed violence against ICE agents. Dude said that ICE should have reconnaissance drones.
Par for the course since they were all like 'the person who shot Charlie Kirk is obviously a communist trans person' before it was known who they were.
They don't already? I thought NYPD and LAPD used them extensively, so why wouldn't ICE. Also I'm pretty sure Palantir or Andruil got a contract for recon drones over the southern border recently.
I'm not a lawyer but ICE isn't law enforcement. But I assume next year (or maybe this year?) GOP SCOTUS will rule that ICE are basically cops.

No idea what the thought process here is; the immigrants are in the process of being kidnapped and then (after a tortured detainment period) being deported; what more do you want?

This is dark, but they're probably the type that wishes they were being put in gas chambers. I mean if you were some rightwing nut and take what the Noem propaganda PSAs that run on TV at face value, then you'd think there's a chance that they could come back to the country.
