Isn't doctor a title you can wear if you get any PhD? Because in the US you can totally get a PhD in parroting CIA talking points without too much hassle (and rich parents)
Doctor is an academic title but it is also used as a colloquial term for a physician or a surgeon. You can have a doctorate without working as a doctor and you can work as a doctor without having a doctorate.

Yes. I’m sure it’s the same everywhere. But if you ever see some “doctor” on the home page of YouTube with some title like “you’ll never believe what THIS medicine will do!”, it 98% of the time a chiropractor wearing scrubs like he’s some surgeon lol
