All they did was own a few slaves, and they treated them like family, so really, did they even count as slaves?

It's crazy how these types will refuse to look into what the rich were doing to make communism so tempting. Like sure, I'm sure Ivan the Terrible was reasonable on his subjects.

Its a little known fact that Ivan the Terribles full name was "Ivan the Terrible at Counting". Thats how they became communists. Trust me bro, common sense init.
