(CNN) — President Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid-19, according to the president and CEO of UnidosUS Janet Murguía.

Biden was expected to speak at the group’s conference in Las Vegas Wednesday night.

I was just on the phone with President Biden. And he shared his deep disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon. The president has been at many events as we all know and he just tested positive for Covid

Murguía told attendees.

Biden, 81, had been scheduled to take the stage an hour and a half prior.

CNN has reached out to the Biden campaign and the White House for comment.

he doesn’t have covid, you don’t make people wait 90 minutes for that announcement. they’re making shit up because they tried to get him coherent for over an hour and nothing was working.

biden's doctor giving him hundreds of covid tests until one of them gives a false positive so he can diagnose without losing their license

“People are saying I’m the best at movement tech. My speedrunning is like me on the campaign trail. Unstoppable, unbeatable, always winning. Sleepy Joe speedruns like he’s trying to finish a sentence.”

Folks, Biden can't even do a basic rocket jump! It's very sad. Unlike me, I'm the best soldier in RGL. Everyone knows it. I've got the best syncshots and surfs, the best anyone's ever seen! Froyotech was gonna play me but they got too scared and forfeited! True story

pretty sure the chip damage from the swab would kill him at this point

[-] citrussy_capybara@hexbear.net 57 points 2 years ago

exactly, hope he does have it and it kills him but sounds sus so far

[-] CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net 23 points 2 years ago

Not like Biden would remember getting the last one 15 minutes before.

Anyway, would be funny if that gave him a sinus infection that was the beginning of the end

[-] VILenin@hexbear.net 47 points 2 years ago

He was already an hour late to his big boy press conference. The time and effort required to induce lucidity is getting longer and longer

[-] citrussy_capybara@hexbear.net 50 points 2 years ago

and they’ve probably got a whole team coming up with excuses like his grandmother just passed away or the parliamentarian said he can’t come out on stage today

[-] amberSuperMario@lemmygrad.ml 45 points 2 years ago

It seems unlikely to me that they’d use covid as the excuse considering how hard they try to pretend that the pandemic is over and that Biden defeated it

[-] citrussy_capybara@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago

compelling counterpoint, but after the biden tweet of “I’m sick… of Elon Musk and his rich buddies trying to buy this election. [donation link] Show your support with a contribution.” it seems more like a stunt

he’s fucking with everyone to fundraise:

That's someone on his PR team. Biden definitely is not doing his own Tweets.

[-] Pili@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago

Imagine how hilarious it would be if Biden actually tried to tweet

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
