On this day, 4 years ago the site was first launched (then a day later the first post made), Formed from chapotraphouse remnants, the old admins decided to make a site using Lemmy as its base. Originally called chapo.chat, Hexbear has grown into one of the biggest instances in the lemmyverse.
Despite various sitewide struggle sessions, wrecker incursions from other forums and federation drama, Hexbear has keep growing strong in its 4th year, now with 4 megathreads, over 4 million comments, 300k posts and much more.
Its being great running the general megathread for a bit over 3 years, since i took over i have tried to get it mostly in time and just one unlike during the old times, i like to think i have done a decent job, plus i have also added a bit of reading material to them so you nerds can learn from them and i like to think you have been reading them 
, its also nice to see the new megathreads how they have slowing grown up to the size to the old general mega in the time of the old admins.

Oh shit! Hexbear anniversary is also the anniversary of my kitty Darby getting named! It was 9 years ago for her. She lived a couple months under the name Kitty cause it was really hard to come up with the right name. Then. While watching Decline of Western Civilization, when The Germs were being featured, this asshole cat takes a dive from the railing of the stairs into a pot of Chilli we had been cooling to freeze. She then blasted all over the house smearing Chilli everywhere and then slashed the fuck out of me when I had to give her a bath and the tub ran red with blood and tomato sauce. Never before had a name become so obvious when I came back down covered in cuts with a soaked cat who's white parts were now orange. Darby Crash.

She's great but only I may pet her. I had one roommate who put in some really serious effort and got a couple instances where she'd sleep on the same couch and admitted a couple scritches. My other roommates she hunted for sport.
