They need to plant a diversity of crops to actually restore the ecology. Wildlife tends not to survive monocultures. The belt is ironically a green desert in terms of nutrients. Its also important to make the project more resilient to fire and disease

This isn't specifically a critique of China, this happens in the US all the time

The Continental Divide Trail is going to get even more fucked than the current barbed wire closures. Sucks for everyone attempting it especially the international hikers

Don't the KMT want reunification too? Xi is possibly meeting with the leader of the KMT next month after a successful CPC-KMT think tank a few days ago. We will have to wait and see if developments come out of it

Newsom didn't even go to the water negotiations. He has never spoken about this issue before. States will have to dramatically cut THIS YEAR or face a systems collapse on the river

Earlier this month, the federal government released a range of alternatives outlining how it would manage the system if no deal is reached by Feb. 14. If that deadline passes without an agreement, the political and environmental situation across the basin may become as grim as the snowpack.

apologies for the trot article, but they were the top result I saw in English that was free and not the BBC

looks like the government is trying to pass a 50-hour work week, lift a ban on outsourcing, end a law that forces rehiring workers who were wrongfully terminated, and expand the list of services that must remain open during strikes amongst over 100 changes

So instead of using hydraulic that can be hit by lightning, and it's fine. You take a little glass of water, you drop it on magnets. I don't know what's going to happen

Not gonna look at polls, kamala will lose. They'll blame Black/Hispanic people, men, Muslims, Jews, Jill Stein, and more, but the root cause will be the genocide in Palestine. If I'm wrong I'll run a marathon with no training or something similar idk

Both campaigns have no energy. Boring election cycle
