I don't want to say they bare zero responsibility for remaining ignorant and never seeking basic media literacy but: partly I really do think it's an inevitable consequence of both neoliberalism and the cult of celebrity. Art under neoliberalism is about commodifying and branding everything and I think most mainstream actors of today's generation are basically always playing two roles in any project. There's the role they have in the film, and the role they play on late night, press junkets, and social media that everyone in fandom sees. Most marvel stars are especially good examples of this one. People get thrown for a loop with a legend like de niro because he doesn't have to play that game and people aren't ready for it.

I always find it so hilarious that neoliberals will simultaneously build their lives and world views around hypothetical technological solutions that will resolve resource/logistical realities like magic and then turn around and say that the problem with Communism is that its too utopian or idealistic.

I personally know like several guys here in the US that would enter into a relationship with an obviously evil demon if that demon had a cartoonishly artificial set of booba.

I mean to be fair...some of us are into obviously evil demons for their personality....

I can't say its jaw dropping because it was kinda an open secret but: Given how much actual disinformation and bullshit was going on in the middle of COVID on social media it's a pretty chilling mask off reveal on what the actual priorities are. Honestly if you had told me this is how it would play out even just 2 years ago I don't know if I would have believed it.

I know i'm preaching to the choir here but I seriously want to ask the libs: How is this anything but a complete and unconditional surrender of the legal system? You broke the law. You were convicted of a serious crime. Your sentence is that you're free to go sir, "god speed".

Like that's fucking it. If the laws ever did matter they sure as fuck don't anymore. He is materially above it and free from all consequences. So what are you gonna fucking do about it?

Pretty proud of how this turned out. My partner went as Chappell Roan so it made for a good bit.

I don't want to give us too much credit cause we definitely do suck but: I do think its worth remembering that polls show a significant majority of Americans support a permanent ceasefire. This is just another example of democracy being a dog and pony show while the empire carries on doing whatever the hell it wants.

New season new meta comrade!

I'm hype as hell for Jamie buffs. I didn't like hearing the news about them seemingly embracing "fuck it we palm" and making it safe but a lot of his updates look great. I'm super excited to test out Bakkais new i frames.

My S.O. posited this question to me and I choose the bear also and am surprised people here are pushing back against it.

Granted: if I'm lost in the woods I might have a different answer but assuming I know where I am and I stumble on a bear it's incredibly statistically likely the bear is just minding its own business and isn't gonna get involved in my business and I can probably scare it off if it starts to approach me easily enough.

If I encounter a strange person I'm immediately wondering what their reasons for being there even are. Sure: they might be the same as mine....but maybe they aren't. Impossible to say for sure. The bear is a known quantity. It's supposed to be there. I and the other person in the woods, generally speaking, aren't.

Wait, I thought we were constitutionally entitled to speak at college campuses and cancel culture was against our core western values. Lawl.

Valve index. Got a lightly used one for a great price.

TBH I mainly bought this thing cause I want to play the Myst remaster in VR but I better get some use outa this. So what else is worth playing aside from Beat Saber? Any good VR mods?

Wish I could admit to something cooler but I was watching Harry Potter with kiddo (I've really tried...he's into it though through my ex tho).

I can happily say however that we paused the movie and proceeded to dance around the house at the joyous good news. He's recording it in his diary now!

So it looks fun and exactly the kinda thing I'll watch with Kiddo but:

The thing that kinda left me shook watching this trailer is that I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles look, act, and sound like actual fucking teenagers as opposed to like early 20s college fratboys.

Like I guess its a consequence of the fact that almost everyone playing a teenager in highschool on TV, in the 90s especially, was a 30 year old...but still...kinda weird on reflection.

That's it. That's the post.
