Almost every Cuban citizen knows people who suffered through Batista's rule at some point. Even the people who are not political and are just living life day by day, would be willing to take arms up because, despite living under embargo, life would be even worse if America won.

"Just a casual walk in the park"
"We're going to remake Black Hawk Down and make it even more racist."
I was gonna say, like has anyone here ever been to Cuba? The countryside is nothing but hills, mountains, brush, and swamps. It's where Fidel and his remaining comrades hid after the barracks ambush. It took me hours to just get to some streams with my friend, an environmental officer.

Beneath all the shitposting and memes about the war, the most
moment i've felt about this was when i was in Cuba earlier this year. I had a conversation with an older russian man, and he showed me pictures on his phone. Pictures of his youth, hanging out with friends, drinking, partying, etc. But, he also showed me pictures of his unit. A ragtag mix of russians and ukrainians. All under the red banner. He showed me a picture of him at a cafe with those same people many years later. 2021. He doesn't know if he'll ever see them again.
Wait, who's piloting the plane? My god! It's the ghost of kiev!
