there's a bot that will do this for you over on lemmy.world. i think you'd like it better over there.

appearing signed out (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

since the slow loading issues were resolved: using the default browser UI — every time i open dbzer0 in a new tab in Firefox — the page will appear as if i'm signed out.

i can fix this by hard refreshing, except on /posts. if i open a /post in a tab where i appear signed in, it loads correctly.

sometimes this happens on the subscribed feed page, where i seem signed out but i see someone else's subscriptions, but with my votes indicated. when i'm stuck like this, /unread_count is still polled for my account.

this doesn't happen to me on other instances.

All the time spent thinking how to solve a problem is also work.

try telling that to every manager i've ever had.

my guess is it was trying to get you to help one of its friends or something.

that was my first guess, but it didn't seem like it was leading me anywhere.

i'm a little worried now.

I’d have had a good search around the area befriending crows can actually bring you some benifit like shiny gifts

when i was homeless, i shared my food with a crow. i got them to bring me coins by feeding them double portions when they brought monies.

or in some cases crow bodyguards as they actually recognise individuals as friends etc.

that's my current relationship to the corvids in town. a long time ago i rescued a magpie from two seagulls, and since then all the corvids no longer fly away when i come near them. the magpies even defended me from a seagull one day!

but they otherwise don't approach me, and we don't 'communicate'.

i was walking along some bushes when a bird flew out from a bush in front of my path into a grass clearing. it was a very small crow. it made two quiet, short, high-pitched peeps in rapid succession, hopping in circles. i tried to walk around it, but it kept blocking my path and making the exact same peeps at me.

i got back on the stone path, and it hopped up right next to me, and starting ripping up grass and throwing it over my feet. i chuckled, and it stopped, looked up at me, and… peeped again, before continuing to bury my feet in grass.

i continued walking and it followed right next to me till the end of the path before watching me walk away and then returning to its bush.

i didn't recognise this bird, or seen a bird do this to me or anyone else before. i'm on especially friendly terms with the corvids in my neighbourhood, but they don't normally approach me.

any ideas? have you seen something similar?

Today EU governments will not adopt their position on the EU regulation on “combating child sexual abuse”, the so-called chat control regulation, as planned, which would have heralded the end of private messages and secure encryption. The Belgian Council presidency postponed the vote at short notice.

aside from the autotherapeutic, vibes-based and reactionary 'veganism' mentioned here, i've often encountered the misanthropic 'vegan'.

they've typically experienced chronic complex interpersonal trauma and have arrived at some quasiconsequentialist position that animals — as a category representing the 'opposite' of humans, and lacking the same capacity for evil — represents the apex of innocence and morality. they assume anything bad brought upon a human is brought upon themselves, and would see humans collectively punished(/ put into collective suffering) for [insert list of examples of decadence] or as repentance for animal cruelty. it doesn't matter how humans suffer, or that they all suffer the exact same way. it only matters that everyone everywhere is feeling like shit. even better if the suffering is caused by another human, which they warpedly see as some kind of 'irony', so it makes sense they'd promote hateful ideology. at the far end of the spectrum: they dip into ecofascist accelerationism territory.

the reality is that this is an outlet for their hatred for their own (varied) abusers, and their hopes that a ubiquitous suffering will extend far enough to reach even these abusers and bring everyone down to their level.

(i speak a tiny bit from my own past experience)

she's alluding to the fact that these characters — the 'soyjack' and 'gigachad' — are historically, and still actively are, alt-right charicatures. together with their friends, 'tradwife' and 'doomer (girl)': they represent misogynistic, racist, antisemitic, and white supremacist tropes.

if you're the first person from your instance to interact with a remote community, it takes a moment for it to sync.

also keep in mind that lemmy.world is too fucking big, so they're very slow to talk to.

Per the March All Hands discussion […]

i guess from experience that this was neither 'all hands' nor a 'dicussion'. it was 'whoever['s logged in before office hours| doesn't want to enjoy their lunch] gets to look at boomer memes and dull graphs for 2 hours while listening to the latest round of edicts graciously handed down by the Board.'

if you missed it, and you're lucky, they recorded it. if you're very lucky: you get an email with the slide deck and talking points for what could've just been an email to begin with.

this assumes that:

  1. all workers are 'producing' anything.
  2. all workers are serving real needs.
  3. the difference between supply and demand is really so low that any dip in 'productivity' would harm anything more than an executive's RoI.
  4. that the threat of this financial 'harm' necessitates more work.

with the increase in 'productivity' over the last century, if we reduced our expectations, and stopped letting monopoly money run our entire society, and stopped burning surplus resources because it's 'unsold' or would drive down prices: we wouldn't need to work even 20% what is expected of us now.

this assumes that:

  1. dependence is inevitable if Europe is not the most competitive.
  2. that economic competitiveness had anything to do with natural gas imports.
  3. that our economic system and its basic dynamics are unchangeable.
  4. that our needs are unchangeable.

the natural gas situation wouldn't have been avoided if Europe were more 'competitive'; neither would any other geopolitical situation. instead the EU should have — and is currently — diversifying its domestic energy sources. the EU could also work on energy coöperation and reducing energy usage.

interdependence works for everyone. independence is a destructive mindset.

How would this work? Do websites with rss feeds normally publish the url to that feed in some standard place?

feeds are usually advertised in the page header as below, with type set to either application/rss+xml or application/atom+xml.

<head>
  <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Example Feed" href="https://example.com/feed/" />
</head>

Are there any third party extensions that do it?

i don't know about chrom[e|ium], but i use Awesome RSS for firefox.
