As an interview I always ask, “why here? I mean other than to pay your bills, you didn’t apply to a charity.” Always gets a laugh and then they generally give me an honest, decent reason.

We never ask to hear, “because bills.” We aren’t as stupid as you think we are. Some people actually nail this question, others don’t attempt. You can’t try? Why the hell do you think you’d be a good fit? I can hire more motivated people that will do better in the long run.

Interviewing is a skill like any other. Some people are great at it, others suck because they don’t understand what it’s for. Most fall in the later category since they miss the point entirely.

Interviews are for fit a lot of times. I get plenty of candidates. I want someone who will 1) fit the team and 2) jive with me as a manager. Not everyone can fulfill those 2 main requirements. The skills come secondary honestly.

Not exactly what they’re getting at. This misses the point entirely. You applied here. Why?

Desperation is a valid answer.

One of the more interesting museum exhibits we’ve seen. This room at the History Colorado Center is calming and serene with the transition from night with stars moving on the ceiling and insect noises to twilight with the clouds moving and the birds singing. It was a blood pressure dropper and my youngest loved it.

The Trump administration is so far right it’s making Texas look liberal.

When buying our first house in 2008 the mortgage company was pushing us to buy more by saying, “why are you purchasing this house at $197,000 when you can afford twice that?” My response was, “we’ve done the math, we can’t afford twice as much.” Never listen to a mortgage broker. They all want you to spend more so they make more.

Maybe all Israelis need to visit Dachau or Auschwitz to remember how being actively erased isn’t a good thing. How quickly it’s forgotten.

Divx was a video codec and much better than the others at that time. It was super confusing when Circuit City announced their DIVX program.

AYANEO is making another Android-based gaming handheld – but this one has a trick up its sleeve. The Pocket EVO is the world's first Android handheld with a 7-inch 120Hz OLED screen, according to the manufacturer. That high refresh rate should mean smoother gameplay, assuming there are enough titles to support it.

Based on the design of the AYANEO 2S, the Pocket EVO boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chipset, which will ensure it has plenty of grunt for AAA mobile gaming and emulation.

It’s too late. We’ve already hit the tipping point. Many of my neighbors have EVs now. They’re everywhere in my city and I’m not in a major city. They’re just plain better cars and now people know it. It’s too late.

Looks to be based on GBA4iOS.

One commenter on X, who said their partner was on the Delta flight, reported that it “smelled horrible” and that vanilla-scented disinfectant used to mask the odor “only made it smell like vanilla s---.”

Hahahahhaha.

I miss getting on a plane and reading Skymall to see what batshit crazy stuff they had to sell. Anyone else?

My prints come out very well but I’m noticing on larger prints that one corner of my bed prints tighter than the opposite. What’s causing this?

Printing on an Ender 3 Pro with upgraded metal extruder, beefier bed springs and metal levelers, and upgraded hot end. Not direct drive yet and no auto bed leveling.

In Colorado this year (2024), unaffiliated voters were mailed out their ballots for both the Democratic and Republican Presidential Primaries and get the chance to vote in one or the other (NOT both).

I’m fairly centrist. I lean left on progressive ideals and right on economic (yeah, it’s fun /s).

The question is, who’s should I put my vote in for? Is it better to vote for Biden or another candidate in the Democratic, or another candidate that isn’t Trump in the Republican. Again, we can only vote in one of the primaries or our vote won’t count if we vote in both. It’s one or the other.

What is best?

Best quote in the comments by Freethought sums it up for me:

If what Trump says is the standard that a US president has immunity to commit any crime they see fit to do while in office, then the premise of the rule of law is meaningless.
