Theme

This week’s theme is: All Hallows’ Eve

Since it’s just about that time of the year, capture the eerie spirit of Halloween—whether it’s haunted houses, ghostly figures, glowing jack-o’-lanterns, or mysterious creatures lurking in the shadows. The goal is to create an image that feels chilling, atmospheric, and unmistakably tied to the season.

Halloween may have its roots in certain traditions, but the spirit of spookiness is a universal phenomenon. Feel free to incorporate elements inspired by your own culture’s folklore, myths, or seasonal celebrations—just keep the focus eerie, haunting, and Halloween-ready.

Voting process

Everyone can submit their image to this post. At the end of the week, all images will be collected and shared in a new voting post wherein people can vote on their favorite image. This will be up for at least 24 hours before a winner is made. There are no extra points to be earned; OP will decide on a winner in case of a tie.

Rules

  • Follow the community’s rules above all else
  • One comment and image per user
  • Embed image directly in the post (no external link)
  • Workflow/Prompt sharing encouraged but not required (we’re all here for fun and learning)
  • OP will declare winner in case of a tie
  • The challenge runs for about a week.
  • Downvotes will not be counted
  • Voting and final scoring will be done in a separate post.

Scores

At the end of the challenge the image with the most votes, wins! The winner gets to pick the next theme. As always, have fun everyone!

TL;DR:  Let’s try to be less interesting!

Hello from your mod team (seems like just me, if you’re interested in being a mod ping me)!

I’ve noticed that things have been getting pretty interesting around here lately and we need to tone that back a little.  The goal of this community is to share things that aren’t particularly interesting that you come across.

Yes, “interesting” is very subjective, but I think we need to go back to our roots and consider what brought us all here… we wanted to be mildly interested.

Also, this isn’t a place for politics.  There are many other communities for that, let’s keep it there.

Here are a couple great examples of what I feel we should strive for:

That’s all for now, thanks for your support and understanding.

I’d like to have a way to group communities in different feeds (the equivalent of multireddits?).

Anyone happen to know of an app that has that feature?

I’m on iOS if that matters.

There’s a lot they “can’t“ do. But I don’t see anyone standing in their way.

Laws only apply to poor people.

How the actual fuck are people “blindsided” by this?

[-] WhatsHerBucket@lemmy.world 50 points 10 months ago

Hate to say it, but the US isn’t the only country that is fucked. The impact is going to be felt worldwide and in a harsh way.

We’ll see how long places like Ukraine and Taiwan will last.

Ugh, the more I think about it the more I realize how bad it’s going to be.

Just because the technology involves politics shouldn’t mean it can’t belong here also.  Why do they have to be mutually exclusive?  I’m not pushing my beliefs on anyone here.

If you read the article (which I can only assume you did), it goes into detail about a how even  hackers from Black Hat and DEFCON (two well known cybersecurity conventions) were donating to a cause they believe in.  It even goes on to talk about hacking voting machines.

Seems like “technology” to me.
