Not that it should be a surprise, but people are getting lost in the shuffle..

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Panamanian national, was mistakenly deported by U.S. immigration authorities despite a court order that should have prevented his removal. During a recent court hearing, Department of Justice officials were unable to confirm his current location, raising serious concerns about accountability and transparency within the immigration system. The case has sparked outrage among advocates and legal experts, who argue that such errors undermine trust in the judicial process and highlight systemic flaws in immigration enforcement.

The incident has prompted calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Garcia’s deportation and the apparent communication breakdown between agencies. Legal representatives are demanding immediate action to locate Garcia and ensure his safe return to the U.S. This case underscores the need for robust safeguards to prevent similar occurrences and to uphold the integrity of the immigration system.

But the flames on the sign are probably overkill at this point

I’m glad it’s working for you, but you might want to look into deepseek a little more. It has some serious issues.

This is a good place to start. Obvs you could also just Google for more info about it.

I like the old classic “What’s a nice $gender like you doing in a place like this?” With a cheesy grin showing that you know it’s an old cheesy pickup line.

IMO, you can tell a lot about a person from their response. :)

I met a girl in a bar a long time ago and even after this pickup line, we managed to make it many years. So far, so good.

There’s a lot they “can’t“ do. But I don’t see anyone standing in their way.

Ultimate Pets

Prompt

My starting prompt was: Create an image of a person cradling a baby griffin in their hands.

Theme

Do you dream of the perfect pet? A fire-breathing kitten? A rainbow-feathered parrot that sings your favorite songs? A jellyfish-dog hybrid that floats beside you? Now’s your chance to bring your imagination to life!

Create your Ultimate Pet—a creature that can be real, mythical, or entirely original. Whether it’s the most loyal companion, the most fearsome guardian, or simply the weirdest, wackiest, or cutest critter imaginable, we want to see what you come up with!

Voting process

Everyone can submit their image to this post. At the end of the week all images will be collected and shared in a new voting post wherein people can vote on their favorite image. This will be up for at least 24 hours before a winner is made.

There are no extra points to be earned, OP will decide on a winner in case of a tie.

Rules

  • Follow the community’s rules above all else
  • One comment and image per user
  • Embed image directly in the post (no external link)
  • Workflow/Prompt sharing encouraged but not required (we’re all here for fun and learning)
  • OP will declare winner in case of a tie
  • The challenge runs for at least 7 days from now on
  • Down votes will not be counted
  • Voting and final scoring will be done in a separate post.

Scores

At the end of the challenge the image with the most votes, wins! It’s that simple :)

The winner gets to pick the next theme. As always, have fun everyone!

AI summary:

On February 4, 2025, during a White House press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Donald Trump proposed that the United States take control of the Gaza Strip and permanently relocate its Palestinian residents to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan. He suggested that this plan would allow Palestinians to live without the constant threat of violence and envisioned redeveloping Gaza into a prosperous area, potentially the “Riviera of the Middle East. Trump did not rule out deploying U.S. troops to support this initiative and emphasized a long-term U.S. commitment to the region.

This proposal has been met with significant opposition. Egypt, Jordan, and other U.S. allies in the Middle East have cautioned that relocating Palestinians could destabilize the region and undermine ongoing peace efforts. Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to an independent Palestinian state and emphasized the need to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people without displacing them. Critics, including both Democratic and Republican lawmakers in the U.S., have expressed concerns about the feasibility and morality of the plan, with some describing it as a form of ethnic cleansing.

The proposal also faces practical challenges. Rebuilding Gaza is expected to take years and cost billions of dollars, raising questions about the logistics of relocating millions of residents and the willingness of other countries to accept them. Additionally, many Palestinians are determined to remain in their homeland despite the hardships, viewing their presence as a political statement against displacement. The plan’s potential to further complicate the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas adds to the concerns surrounding its implementation.

How the actual fuck are people “blindsided” by this?

[-] WhatsHerBucket@lemmy.world 50 points 4 months ago

Hate to say it, but the US isn’t the only country that is fucked. The impact is going to be felt worldwide and in a harsh way.

We’ll see how long places like Ukraine and Taiwan will last.

Ugh, the more I think about it the more I realize how bad it’s going to be.

Just because the technology involves politics shouldn’t mean it can’t belong here also.  Why do they have to be mutually exclusive?  I’m not pushing my beliefs on anyone here.

If you read the article (which I can only assume you did), it goes into detail about a how even  hackers from Black Hat and DEFCON (two well known cybersecurity conventions) were donating to a cause they believe in.  It even goes on to talk about hacking voting machines.

Seems like “technology” to me.
