If I just voted for someone and then they quit to allow someone else to run and I needed to go vote AGAIN just for some power play I would be fucking pissed. Hopefully these voters are as well.

poilievre is now a DEI hire exactly in the way the cons lie and misrepresent DEI hires

Why did a lid suddenly appear on this bin in the second frame?

[-] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 7 points 6 days ago

Most likely AI.

[-] HowAbt2day@futurology.today 4 points 6 days ago

They don’t use lids in Ontario.

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

A chance to take another seat from them. Heck, if he loses there, too, he might even try again!

[-] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 0 points 6 days ago

He won't lose in battle river.

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 0 points 6 days ago

If you don't run, you have already lost the race.

[-] CircaV@lemmy.ca 0 points 6 days ago

Nauseating. Fuck this fascist POS and his followers. A coward and a hypocrite.

They picked that riding for a reason. The Cons got 81.8% of the vote in the recent election in that riding.

I wish we had the requirement that you must LIVE in the riding you're running for and have lived there the past 2 years at least. Should also have to live there the entire time in office as well.

[-] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 20 points 6 days ago

Exactly, your MP is supposed to represent your local interest. If they don't live there why the fuck would they care about you and your interests?

[-] ImplyingImplications@lemmy.ca 52 points 1 week ago

Hilarious that a bunch of Albertans that hate Ottawa politicians are about to vote in an Ottawa politician.

[-] brax@sh.itjust.works 28 points 6 days ago

Perfectly on brand, tbh.

They love freedom, but not for trans or gays.

They love their country, but they hate paying the taxes to support it.

They love democracy, but they hate when anybody else wins.

They hate tyranny, but they love to back traitors.

[-] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 10 points 6 days ago

I'd love to see Albertans reject him as an "Ottawa elite parachute candidate".

They won't, of course, but a guy can dream...

[-] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 days ago

Maybe shame the libertarians in that riding into presenting an independent candidate that would defeat Peter Rabbithair easily.

All the people that thought Poilievre would not continue as the opposition leader need a wake up call. You still don't understand what you're fighting against. Cult of personality is a major pillar of fascism, and loyalty (to the leader, not to the country) is the most valuable trait. Poilievre had a few humiliating defeats but he's still gaining grounds for the CPC, and the conservative wave is still on it sway, bolder and with lots of resentments piled up.

Take this seriously. The enemy doesn't have to be smart or competent, they just need to amass power. https://www.antihate.ca/40ways

I didn't expect him to voluntarily step down.

I expect the party to follow it's own damn rules and have the leadership review that their party rules requires after a losing election.

Of course, they could still do that after he inevitably wins in one of the safest seats in the country.

[-] brax@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 days ago

Oh wow, that link is a great resource! I had no idea it existed. Gonna share that around my circles for sure.

[-] Jhex@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

what personality does pp have? he has the charisma of roadkill

[-] villasv@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago

It doesn’t matter. If you look around, most authoritarian leaders have no more charisma than him. Personality just means a fabricated persona, marketing and propaganda.

[-] Jhex@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

hmmm I don't know about that, idiots think tRump is a business genius and do not seem to rally around any other bigot to the same extend

PP has a 3 line resume and no accomplishments to speak of. Marketing can do wonders but they'll have an uphill battle selling thin air

Sweet another chance to take that one from him too

Holy shit do they not want him to lose again.

"The Conservatives handily won that riding on Monday with nearly 82 per cent of the vote."

They picked one of the safest ridings in the country so that there's no chance of that happening.

I assume he's being paid off by the Conservative party somehow. Otherwise he just spent a lot of time and money to get re-elected and is now unemployed.

[-] dermanus@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 days ago

Not one of the safest. The safest. Not giving off confident energy.

Voters rejected PP.

It seems like this other Conservative isn't confident in their own ability to act as an MP. And it doesn't look good to give your seat up to a loser.

[-] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 53 points 1 week ago

It also shows to the people in the riding that they don't matter ... the position is just to get a politician into power not to represent actual people.

[-] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

They would care if they could read. The people of the riding that is.

Fuck off. How the fuck is this kind of bullshit allowed? He lost! He shouldn’t get to swap out with someone. Wtf

[-] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 days ago

This is the system of governance you are under. I agree with you that parachuting shouldn't be allowed, but here we are.
