On Friday is May 9th, which is the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, which Russia, among other places, celebrates as the day when the Soviets defeated the Nazis. Naturally, one of the current hotspots of fascism in the world today, Ukraine, is essentially threatening that they might strike Russia or even Moscow itself during that timeframe. Any such strike would almost certainly be symbolic and not aimed at anything too important, as I doubt even Zelensky and his American handlers would actually want to kill a world leader, not least somebody like Xi Jinping. But I would not be surprised if they tried something nonetheless, if only to disrupt the event in some way and not actually kill anybody.

And, as we're on this topic, @EllenKelly@hexbear.net has reminded me that Tuesday is the anniversary of the Nazis burning the Institut für Sexualwissenschaf in 1933, an early institute advocating for the rights of LGBT people, and which also provided early forms of gender-affirming surgeries, as well as hormone therapies. We are currently seeing a crackdown on LGBT rights throughout swathes of the imperial core (as well as countries in the periphery, to the extent that those rights existed there already), and this Nazi-inspired movement will be similarly defeated in the future.

Putin is set to make an announcement in 15 minutes...

Nothing ever happens, or will things start happening again?

Seems to be running behind schedule, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov says that no questions will be allowed, Putin will just make a statement.

With the ceasefire now in place between India and Pakistan (preliminary reports suggest that it has already been violated), it looks like much of the unconfirmed reports about large scale cyber attacks, both sides shooting down each others fighter aircraft, and within visual range engagements/dogfights, and entering each other's airspace, were exaggerated by both sides. There is no evidence for any of these claims.

What ended up actually happening was a tit for tat stand-off strike exchange aimed at each other's military bases and storage locations, with air launched cruise and ballistic missiles, and ground launched short range ballistic missiles and artillery rockets being used. The Indian Air Force managed to carry out stand off strikes without losing any aircraft this time, as they should've done during their first attack. That's the whole point of using stand-off weapons, minimal risk to the aircraft and pilots, high survivability. Lesson learnt by India, they carried out a successful attack on Pakistan this time, at the cost of 4 aircraft during the previous attack.

Pakistan responsed with thier own stand off strikes from their Air Force and rocket forces. Pakistani media published photos and videos of ground launched Fatah-1 guided artillery rockets, and Fatah-2 Short Range Ballistic Missiles, being used.

The most interesting claim from Pakistan is the "use of hypersonic weapons" launched from JF-17 fighter aircraft, to target an Indian S-400 air defence site at Adampur. With photos and videos released, the "hypersonic weapon" in question is the Chinese made CM-400AKG Air Launched Ballistic Missile (ALBM), with its passive radar anti ship seeker likely converted for anti radiation use against air defence radars (there is no official anti radiation version of the CM-400AKG). This makes a lot more sense than Pakistani aircraft entering Indian airspace to carry out some sort of Wild Weasel mission against the S-400 with short range anti radiation missiles, a puzzling initial claim. India has confirmed limited damage at Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur and Bhuj, but denies that the S-400 system was hit. It is unclear what the truth is.

“Limited damage was sustained to equipment and personnel at Indian Air Force stations at Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur and Bhuj,” said Indian Air Force officer Singh

“Pakistan Air Force’s JF-17 Thunder hypersonic missiles destroyed India’s S-400 system in Adampur,” state-run Pakistan TV had reported.

This is an “attempted misinformation campaign … India unequivocally rejects” it, said Misri, who was also joined by Col. Sofiya Qureshi.

India says Pakistan attacked with ‘high-speed’ missiles, targeted air bases

JF-17 with 2 CM-400AKG ALBMs.

Either way, hit or not, the S-400 system failed to intercept the CM-400AKG ALBM if there's damage. This is in line with previous performances of these high level air defence systems against ALBMs. Patriot systems in Ukraine have failed to intercept Kinzhal ALBMs, S-300P systems in Ukraine and Iran have failed to intercept Kinzhal and ROCKS ALBMs respectively. S-400s in Russia have even failed to intercept ground launched ATACMS short range ballistic missiles at times.

As for why these short range (250-500km) ALBMs, from ROCKS to Kinzhal to CM-400AKG are hard to intercept, one just needs to look at the flight trajectory. Even though they are ballistic missiles, their short range means that they don't exceed altitudes of 50km at apogee, remaining in the stratosphere and allowing for some form of aerodynamic control. They are even capable of pull up manoeuvres and long glide or cruise phases at altitudes above the maximum altitude ceiling of some lower altitude terminal ballistic intercept systems, similar to longer range MaRV equipped ballistic missiles. Time from launch from an aerial attack vector, to impact, is 300-400 seconds.

For defence against these kind of shorter range ballistic missiles, you need specialised systems, like the S-300V and it's variants, including the S-300V4, S-500 and Chinese equivalent HQ-18, the latest version of Patriot in PAC-3 MSE, Arrow-2. To increase their anti ballistic capabilities, some Russian S-400s have been fitted with the missiles from the S-300V4 or S-500 systems. India doesn't have that for their S-400, overall neither side has these systems, so expect more successful attacks if the conflict goes on. Even if India and Pakistan had these systems, these systems can and will fail. 100% intercept is impossible.

The Ukrainian military has been briefing units on a new Russian cruise missile called "Banderol" (Parcel). Slavyangrad on telegram posted the following:

The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has disseminated information about the new Russian small-sized aircraft cruise missile S8000 "Banderol", the episodic use of which has been noted by the Ukrainian side since the beginning of this year. According to the GUR, the developer and manufacturer of the missile is JSC "Kronshtadt", and the missile is used from the UAV "Orion" ("Inohodets") produced by the same JSC "Kronshtadt", and in the future it is also planned to use this missile from combat helicopters Mi-28N.

According to known data, the S8000 "Banderol" cruise missile was first publicly demonstrated during a visit by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev to the Kapustin Yar test site in the Astrakhan region on April 26, 2025.

Apparently, limiting the use of the new missile only from low-speed carriers (UAVs and helicopters) allows for low cost and simplicity of design, not designed for significant overloads.

According to the GUR, the S8000 "Banderol" cruise missile has a fuselage about 5 m long with stealth elements. The retractable wing has a span of 2.2 m. The missile is equipped with a small-sized (weight only 8.5 kg) SW800Pro-A95 turbojet engine with a thrust of 80 kg produced by the Chinese company Swiwin Turbine & Jets. The fuel reserve is estimated at 50-65 kg, which provides a flight range of up to 500 km. The cruising speed of the missile is 520-560 km / h, the maximum speed is 620-650 km / h.

The Banderol missile, according to Ukrainian data, is equipped with a 115-kg OFBCh-150 high-explosive fragmentation warhead, the explosive mass of which is 49.5 kg. The missile's satellite guidance system is based on the 8-channel GLONASS/GPS receiver Kometa-M8 manufactured by JSC VNIIR-Progress. According to the GUR, the missile widely uses imported electronic components.

Too Far For The Far Right: Danish Regime Moves Toward Total AI Surveillance

Even the fascists in Denmark’s rubber-stamp parliament think the regime’s new bill on AI-powered mass surveillance is a step too far. A sweeping new law, set to be passed by the Social Democratic-led right-wing regime before the summer, would grant the Nordic hermit kingdom's shadowy secret police agency PET unprecedented access to the personal data of every individual in the country — collected, processed, and analyzed in real time using artificial intelligence.

The proposed legislation, formally presented on April 25, has drawn fierce criticism from independent civil society organizations, human rights groups, and dissidents. The bill is even facing opposition from several reactionary and far-right parties that typically support the expansion of police powers. Even they are balking at the scale of intrusion the law represents.

Under the bill, PET will be authorized to collect and analyze three broad categories of data: publicly available information such as social media posts and comments; data from Danish public authorities, including sensitive data from health and social services; and data primarily concerning individuals outside Denmark. The agencies involved will be compelled to hand over requested data to the intelligence service. These datasets can be stored for up to 20 years.

The implications for human rights in Denmark — a self-styled "liberal democracy" — are profound. Legal experts and privacy organizations warn that the regime’s reliance on AI to parse digital behavior opens the door to algorithmic policing, predictive targeting, and the normalization of pre-crime profiling. The ever-watchful eye of the state will be embedded deep in the online lives of ordinary Danes. This will almost certainly chill dissent and lead to self-censorship, particularly activism deemed politically inconvenient to the regime, such as advocacy against the zionist genocide in Palestine, views that are increasingly facing hostility from Denmark’s political elite.

This dystopian development has drawn criticism from the far-right as well. “It’s a mass surveillance tool, and if that doesn’t create a mass surveillance society, then I don’t know what does,” said Steffen Larsen, legal spokesperson for the far-right Liberal Alliance and chair of parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee. “It makes all Danes suspects by default, because now everyone can be investigated and screened for everything they do. That is the exact opposite of the rule of law.” His party, along with the Conservatives and the fascist Danish People’s Party, has pledged to vote against the bill.

Conservative MP Mai Mercado called the law “extremely comprehensive and extremely far-reaching,” warning that it gives PET access to all data held by public authorities — effectively eliminating any notion of privacy. Mette Thiesen from the fascist Danish People’s Party, which is otherwise known for embracing aggressive policing, admitted, “We’re not afraid of surveillance. But when everyone working in this area says it goes too far, of course we get worried.”

The moderate pro-democracy opposition, represented by the Alternative Party and the Red-Green Alliance, oppose the bill. Several opposition parties are calling for the bill to be delayed until the autumn to allow for thorough legal and public scrutiny. Helene Brydensholt, the Alternative’s legal spokesperson, criticized the rushed legislative timeline: “We will urge the rest of the opposition to stop the bill from being fast-tracked before the summer recess,” she said, referring to a planned committee meeting.

The regime-loyal Socialist People’s Party (SF), have yet to take a clear position on the bill. SF’s justice spokesperson, Karina Lorentzen, only said that the process was “too rushed” and that a “proper public debate” should take place, without addressing the substance of the bill.

Meanwhile, independent NGOs and experts have issued an open letter to Peter Hummelgaard, head of Denmark's powerful Social Democrat-controlled Ministry of Justice, warning that the bill will usher in a mass surveillance regime. The regime's response has been to dismiss all criticism out of hand. Hummelgaard insists, “There is nothing in this that is about surveillance. It is more of an analysis tool.” He claims much of the data would concern foreign nationals, and that the law “does not change any rules for how PET can handle information about individuals.”

The bill draws disturbing parallels to Denmark’s dark history of political repression. In the 1930s, Danish police surveilled the legal activities of communists, compiling secret lists that paved the way for the 1941 Communist Law — passed by willing collaborationist politicians at Nazi Germany’s request. That law enabled the arrest of hundreds of communists. 150 Danish communists were eventually deported to German concentration camps where 21 were murdered.

Despite the mounting criticism, the regime’s control of the Nordic hermit kingdom’s parliament all but guarantees the law’s passage.

U.S. Designates Two Haitian Gangs as Terrorist Organizations Amid Escalating Violence - Telesur English

Article

The U.S. Treasury Department announced on Friday the designation of Gran Grif and Viv Ansanm, two notorious Haitian gangs, as transnational terrorist organizations under the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)’s Specially Designated Nationals list.

The declaration grants Washington the authority to detain suspected Haitian gang members operating within the U.S. and transfer them to El Salvador’s maximum-security Terrorism Confinement Center. Additionally, the designation opens the door for economic and legal sanctions against individuals or entities providing financial or military support to these groups.

Deepening Crisis Following Moïse Assassination

Haiti has been gripped by worsening insecurity and political turmoil since the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in July 2021, an event that further destabilized the nation.

The situation deteriorated significantly in February 2024, when Viv Ansanm, led by Jimmy “Barbecue” Chérizier and Ti Gabriel Jean-Pierre, launched a coordinated assault on two Port-au-Prince prisons, releasing thousands of inmates and seizing control of Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

Humanitarian Impact of Gang Rule

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), more than 700,000 Haitians, including children, have been forcibly displaced due to severe food and medical shortages and escalating gang violence.

With Haiti spiraling further into chaos, the U.S. government’s move signals growing international pressure to curb the influence of armed gangs. However, critics question whether external intervention alone can resolve Haiti’s deep-rooted governance crisis.

Ukrainian Drones Attack Moscow During Preparations for Victory Day - Telesur English

Article

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the downing of 105 fixed-wing Ukrainian drones over eleven regions. On Tuesday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported a new Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian capital on the eve of Victory Day, which commemorates the Red Army’s defeat of Nazi Germany.

“The Russian Air Defense Force repelled the attack of two drones flying toward Moscow,” he said, referring to the downing of unmanned aerial vehicles in the Moscow region that occurred the previous night. “Emergency services specialists are working at the site where the drone fragments fell,” the Moscow Major added. Earlier, several Telegram channels specializing in monitoring drone activity in the Moscow region reported that around 17 Ukrainian drones were flying over six Russian regions toward Moscow.

In the south of the Russian capital, mobile phone and internet services were disrupted. Later, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that another thirteen drones had been shot down—seven over the Kaluga region, four over the Tula region, and two more in the Moscow region.

In the morning, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the downing of 105 fixed-wing Ukrainian drones over eleven regions of the country, including the Moscow region.

According to the military report, 19 drones were intercepted near Moscow, where a military parade will be held this Friday to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany—an event expected to be attended by about thirty foreign leaders.

Peruvians are saying that the new Pope is very anti-Sodalitium Christianae Vitae.

What is Sodalitium Christianae Vitae?

Sodalitium Christianae Vitae (SCV), or Sodalitium of Christian Life was a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right, a society of the Catholic Church. It was founded in Lima, Peru, by Luis Fernando Figari on 8 December 1971. It acquired its canonical form when Pope John Paul II gave his Pontifical approval on 8 July 1997.

The Sodalitium was composed of consecrated laymen and priests, called "Sodalits," who lived in community as brothers and made commitments—not religious vows as such—of celibacy and obedience. There were accusations of brainwashing of young people, and of elitism, conservatism, and authoritarianism; and of sexual abuse by founder Luis Fernando Figari and other Sodalites. There were also allegations of right-wing and falangist activism by Figari in his youth.

On 14 January 2025, Pope Francis signed the decree suppressing the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae; the Sodalitium expressed deep sorrow and shame and requested forgiveness. The decree was formally implemented on 14 April 2025.
